Area Defense is attacking, why?
i told a defense army to defend my ports only, now there is some enemy presence in the area and they are attacking them and leaving thier asigned position... opening more places to be attacked from

idk if its just me but i think this is just stupid, they could atleast just hold in front of the enemy presence and defend there to stop them from advancing instead of attacking. if you had a division capable of a real fight it would be pratical but i place divisions which are specificly for defend on these ports and they just run away and head bash themselves into some units which are irrelevant anyway but they open the important spots with that...(the ports)

is there a way for them to stop attacking (without using fallback line for every single port)

The only way is to have enough men to cover every coast tile. That way they wont leave their spots to engage threats, since its already covered.

The Guard tool is more of an "area of operation" tool. Any units assigned to it park themselves in relevant locations then respond to threats that appear in their AoO

I don't use Area Defense for this reason. It's safer to just manually stick units in ports and leave them there without orders.

Unlike other orders, all units in an Army must do Area Defense, so one can't set some of an Army's units to manually sit in ports while the rest react to threats while in Area Defense mode.
I like to set a fallback line all along the cost as Germany and assign my divs to that.
