Great Purge BROKEN?

I just tried playing as Germany again, waited for Great Purge to invade USSR. After i invaded, their organization was NORMAL????? WTF why is everything broken in this game now?

Russia gets an event called the "Great Patriotic War" when they are attacked by a major power, which basically overrides the Great Purge (and historically, a number of purged officers were reinstated following the purge).

wait....so the great purge has no negative effects? like germany can not early invade them?

It doesn't entirely eliminate the effects of the Great Purge, but it vastly-reduces them. However, the Soviets will still suck fighting enemies like Finland.

it is the PURGE....it is not just some event, stalin executed everybody...it SHOULD have negative consequences....

I believe they changed it because it was a little easy to sack Russia in 37 Leaving you the entire world.... literally.

You might be able to exploit it still if you don't enable the newer dlc content.

Just declear war on Tanu Tuva or Mongolia. This way they dont get the buff

So, you actually need to fight a USSR with full debuff to win against it? Vs ai? Get butter m8

Joke aside, great patriotic war is half the debuff value meaning 30 % will only be 15 % buff thus making the actual debuff 15%

It won't be normal but less important
Also, afaik the buff only triggers vs Germany in a defensive war

my job is not to go easy on ai...my job is to crush it....it is the developer's job to make the ai good

As Germany, you could very well not make any tanks nor motorized units and throw inf and arty only and crush the ai without any trouble

3.7–7.7% of the Red army officers were purged - Most of these were just expelled from the party, not the army. Of the remaning purged officers (thoese expelled from the army), 30% were allowed to return to service during ww2.
So makes sense it does not have that huge of a impact in game.
