Efficiency is increased over time by a set percentage, and is capped. You can increase the percentage and the cap through research in the Industry tab. Also, changing the model being produced will drastically lower efficiency at first, but it will build up again.
im currently producing tank divisions, but also training infantry. will it affect the efficiency?

but what does efficiency actually do?
Changing the type of tank that you make (when you upgrade models, for example) will decrease efficiency because your factories have to retool for the new model. Adding new factories to an existing line will decrease efficiency, as well, but should increase the amount produced overall.
Divisions you build don't have anything to do with your production efficiency. Your efficiency simply dicates your rate of producing guns/tanks/whatever. Those will either go to your stockpile, your divisions in the field, or your divisions that you're building. If you're producing 2 artillery per day but your stockpile isn't going up, that just means they're going to divisions.
