Requesting forces from a puppet
I'm kind of new to this game and therefore not very knowledgable about a lot of the mechanics yet, so for one of my first serious games I wanted to start with someone relatively strong in their region who can start fighting early so that I would be able to learn more about the combat. Long story short, I ended up picking Peru, which starts with an actual air force and being fascist, and I eventually conquered everything non-European south of the US, puppeting Brazil. Now, I don't have the DLC that lets me steal a puppet's manpower for my own, more useful divisions (in fact, without that DLC I'm apparently not even able to annex them, so I'm stuck with them), but I do have the ability to request their forces to throw them into the meat grinder. That then made me wonder whether or not I am the one that has to use their own manpower to reinforce those divisions once they take damage, or if Brazil is just going to use their own reserves. Does anyone know the answer for sure?

(sorry if this has been asked on here before, but I couldn't find anything about this on Steam or Reddit)

I guess, you mean expeditionary forces? Those are controlled by you, but equipment and manpower has to be provided by their origin country (not sure about fuel).

Aren't expeditionary forces the ones your faction members can send you, ie. the ones you are offered rather than the ones you actively have to request? Not sure if there's an actual difference between expeditionary forces and requested puppet troops, but if there is none, I suppose your response pretty much answers my question

Good question, I do not know. Also related, look at the pulldown button next to the Division Designer. If you click on that, Peru will show up with its templates. If you COPY any of those templates and use them, a certain percentage of that manpower is Peru's. Same question though, not sure what happens if Peru runs out of Manpower. Hopefully someone has the answer.

They can be both offered and requested. Outside of certain puppet rules (giving you % of their armed forces by default), AI will want to send you troops on their own only if their coutnry is far away from the frontline - not exactly common occurance.

I looked up how to design divisions based on a puppet's templates, and as it turns out it's part of the TfV DLC, which I don't have. I as a human would probably be able to create more useful templates than my puppets, but as it stands the "request forces" option is the next closest thing I have. Also, what I was trying to say earlier was that I was playing as Peru, and that I puppeted Brazil. Not the other way around ;)
