Good Soviet templates
What are some good soviet templates? I'm currently at 1938 and I have tons of experience from the spanish civil war that I'm planning to use to upgrade my templates. Also keep in mind that with 160h played I'm still pretty much a noob at this game and this is my first time ever doing a soviet playthrough.

support companies could be different and everything and these templates def aren't the best but they are able to beat most AI templates 1 for 1

Are you following a broadly historical route? Are you using Mass Assault? Have you invested in air? These strategic decisions change what is optimal.

Current okay game my templates are:

My main front-line infantry is 10 Inf, Art, AA | Engineer, Cav Recon, Signals, Hospital.

My training infantry is 10 inf (this is what is built, it has equipment not to use the latest Infantry equipment and trains up then changes to the line infantry to complete training)

My port defense is 10 inf | engineering.

Sometimes useful on the coast is 5Inf | Art, engineer, rocket

Mountain is 10 Mountain | Engineer, Cav Recon, Art, AA, Hospital

Marines is 10 Marine | Art, Rocket, Hospital, Engineer, AA

Armour is 5 Mot (or Mech), 4 Medium Tank, 2 LtSPAA | Maintenance, Armoured recon, hospital, rocket, Art

Motorised is 8 Motorised, Mot Art, Mot AA | Engineer, armoured recon, maintenance, hospital

Use of hospital is mainly for experience retention rather than manpower.

I have no idea if these are optimal.

One thing I often get caught out with is not building enough support equipment. You will need a lot when you change front-line templates to add support companies.

-Mass Assault yes

-Historical playthrough yes, once the axis and Japan are defeated I might if I will bother enough go to war with the Allies aswell.

-Haven't invested too much in air yet but am planning in the future.

Interesting template. But what if you add more arty battalions in it instead of inf, like instead of 2 arty like 4 or more, would it make it better or worse?

Then my suggested templates will probably work.

The AA investment means you will shoot German planes out of the sky in air zones where you aren't contesting because you haven't gone all-in on aircraft. The 10Inf, Art, AA gives a solid defence and will penetrate some, but not all, Axis armour. Your armour will be strong enough to break-through against weakened AI forces and fast enough to get some good encirclements.

One thing is (if you have the required DLC) you should try and keep some experience back to enhance the T-34 when it is available.

may hurt the org to much, haven't tested adding more
tho if you want a really broken template replace 2 of the inf with 1. modern TD and 2. modern SPG, would prob make the div unbeatable late game against the AI at least (or my fav use a mass tank army get like 72 tank divs, the AI has no answer if they are even just ok medium tank divs)

you can do 4 arty in a 40 wide infantry division with SF easily, just make sure you have plenty of support, with MA maybe not as good.

german AI couldn't move me at all really, couple breakthroughs here and there but i could counter and take it back easily.

similar build I did with Mexican Soviet Republic and this was so OP i was pimp smacking Germany all across the Alps, Killed more Germans and Italians than any nation, GG
