OP, I don't know. I have bigger things to worry about than scout panes.
I guess you can shoot one down every once in a while, like Gary Powers. Sending 400 fighters for scout planes is a poor use of fuel imo.
I'm playing as the USA pretty lategame fuel is no problem in any sense of the word. I'm trying to attack spain but i can't get control over the sea zone to invade because the scout planes keep the advantage on the enemy side.
I could also actually be shooting them down but I'm not sure what category they fall under in the information panel?
I think scout planes count as 'Support' planes so the 'interception' mission should work (afaik 'air superiority' mission just fights other fighters)
Yeah, I never have unlimited fuel, so I never bothered. This thread is interesting because I never thought about this before.
I had a long running airbattle over the middle east, that was of no tactical consequence to me other than keeping the allies busy and trying to wear them down, while also building air and air wing xp last night. Over 1000 fighter on both side, Japan vs UK and USA. I was taking off from Kuwait and I finally had to tap out because of oil.
Anyway good luck and post back if you figure things out with stopping enemy scout planes. I would imagine flooding the sky with fighters on both supremacy and interception would do it if it is important to you.
That is a great idea if it is over water. I always make some destroyers with nothing but AA and radar, and they would love that kind of assignment!
Funny thing is they just serve as a detterent. The AI just chooses to stop attacking, so I don't get many kills with them.
