Occupied territory going to ally?
So playing as the Soviet Union I get Turkey to capitulate after I enter their capital. To my surprise the rest of Turkey not under my control goes to my ally. Why is this?? They've done ♥♥♥♥ all! Why didn't I get an option to keep the occupied territory?! Likewise, why does occupied territory randomly go to neutral countries when I take enemy land via my own occupied territory. This game makes no sense...

Did you invade through said country?

No. The Soviet Union borders Turkey, which is where I invaded from. Further more, the country in question is Tunna Tuva which is in central Asia...

Strange. Probably a bug if you did not go through Tanna Tuva's provinces.
Deaston Nov 9, 2016 @ 2:09pm
Literally, Tunna Tuva is no where near Turkey. They haven't done anything the entire war. I don't have control of any of their units and their two units haven't moved from their home land. This game...The occupied territory feature is quite random. This is not the only problem with it. Newly taken territory can go straight to an ally, or neutral country (yes, when you attacked from your own land) if they are at war with territory host nation and have land bordering the area that you just occupied. It's completely daft and ruins any advance into enemy nations. It basically means; don't have allies.
Rioz Nov 9, 2016 @ 5:33pm
That's the territory before the peace conference. They don't actually own it. After the peace conference, take what you want.

The problem with that is wars can drag on for years and having control of all the resources and factories is highly valuable
Dazven Nov 9, 2016 @ 7:37pm
Or that the war is the end all be all of the game. I mean you can as for control of a state, but that isn't ideal nor guaranteed.
Deaston Nov 10, 2016 @ 11:42am
Yeah, 9 times out of 10 they refuse despite not doing much, if anything at all. That is even assuming the territory is going to an ally, because like I said, it can also go to neutral nations which there is no option to ask for territory. It's a very bad system basically. Another bad feature is when you have your own faction and get forced into the same war as the Allies because you have a common enemy. This has happened multiple times as soon as the Axis attacks a neutral nation and they decide to join your faction (Without your permission by the way). Another bug perhaps...? They should've hired me as a tester before they released this game...

This mechanic is ridiculous. Is there a mod that automatically gives conquered territory to the conqueror and not the ally who borders to it? Would be really helpful.

if youre not playing ironman you can type OP on console and shift+click on the provinces
Thanks. Current game is iron man; so i'll try this on the next playthrough. However, a mod that fixes the mechanic would still be nicer.

I forgot I posted this lol...

Known bug or "feature". You really shouldn't play in IM as there are many issues like that which require using the console to fix.
Have to really use Player Lead Peace Confrences imo as the basic AI is terrible

The problem in the thread is that when fighting the war, the capitulated nation gives territory to those who dont who haven't done much. In cornflakes I conquered Germany but Britian was the controller of the territory until the peace conference. Whoever a nation capitulated to should get the control until the peace conference, not this random number generator system.
