I think when you are in the multiplayer panel there is an option panel, where you can change it.
Or was it on the create Multiplayer game ? somewhere around there anyways

Top left you will see an option to change your name.

EDIT: When you are in the server browser.

I know this is a dead thread, but in case anyone else comes by. You change your name in the top left and then host a match. This should "Save" the name for future matches. Friend and I just figured it out.
