Is "Why Die For Danzig" achievement impossible? [DONE]

I've done 106 achievements (all classic and most of the La Resistance DLC). Last one, Don't Die For Your Country with just 62 casualties. However, it seems there's something wrong with Why Die For Danzig.

This achievement requires to conquest Danzig without going war with France, and make France fascist. I started to boost fascism over France from the beginning and, of course, I avoid getting war against Poland. It wasn't neccesary, because I used the focus to get Danzig switching with Slovakia. However, I couldn't prevent France to join Allies (there's no way to do it, because you can't boost fascism more than a 30% before they join them in 1938).

In spite of unlocking all the upgrades for the Agency, my spies were always getting caught and I had to spent lot of time recovering them. Anyway, I reached 1945 having France with >75% fascist ideology. However, as I told, it seems there is something wrong. From this point, it doesn't mind how many spies I put boosting fascism, It went down to 70%. And France is still a democracy.

How can I change the France government without a coup? I read that u can't make it fascist with one if you want to get the achievement. Then, how can we do it? It seems France don't switch government without it. Also, you can't invade them and make Vichy France to reach the achievement. So it seems there's no way to get it.

Any idea?

Ok, I got the achievement. That's what I did:

1º) I put historical mode off.

2º) I follow the focus till ask Czechoslovakia for Sudetenland. They refused. France and Romania had guaranteed them, so when I started war against Czechoslovakia, both follow them without "breaking" the flag invalid_for_danzig_achievement.

3º) When I conquered Czechoslovakia, I got all the territory on the peace deal. I was still at war against France and Romania. I made a naval invasion to France. When I defeated them, on the peace deal, I made France a puppet.

4º) I was still at war with Romania and the achievement requires to be at peace, so I had to defeat them. When I got them, after peace deal, achievement was done.

The achievement code doesn't say anything about coups, just that you can't be at war with France or Poland.

No, it is actually very easy.

You do coup France and coqnuer Danzig without ever declare war to France.I did actually as rest of Axis in war With fgrance already I jsut never joined war myself.

You could also restart till France turns facist itself by deactivating historical.

I got this achievement by 'accident' on my first run as Germany after LR came out. On that run it was with historic focus off, Poland made it's own faction and France went fascist on their own.

I didn't even know about the achievement until it popped during my delayed war in 1940 against the Poles who had the baltic states, Romania and Yugoslavia in their faction ;)

I tried it 10 times already and it didn't work for me, too.

Most of the time I played with historical focuses off and I never had the luck that France went fascist.

I tried a lot of stuff:

1. With my limited spies I raised facism to 60%~ several times. (takes until 1943-1944) France never turned fascist on it's own, though.
2. I invited as many countries as possible to my faction to boost the number of my spies and their power like Nationalist Spain, Venezuella, Haiti ... I just didn't invite Italy because they go to war with Greece sooner or later. Also destroyed the Soviet Union and freed some countries to get even more allies. This way I was able to push facism to more than 70% but France still didn't go fascist.
3. I started a civil war which didn't work because the new born French country has a different tag and doesn't count for the achievement for some reason.
4. I conquered France and great Britain in 1938 and puppeted a fascist France. This doesn't count also for some reason.
5. Played with ahistorical focuses and never had the luck that France turns fascist.
6. Played with historical focuses which ends in France joining the Allies and fighting Japans faction.

It's really annoying already. You just have to restart until France takes the fascist part of it's focus tree I guess. And then it's basically an achievement without any effort.

As long as they are at war they will not switch over to fascist. In my playthrough it went all the way up to 65 before the allies FINALLY beat Japan

Attack France, puppet them and that's it then you get it. A fascist France just has to exist, it doesn't matter if you already were at war with a previous France or if the new fascist one is your puppet, all that matter is that France is Fascist and that you're at moment at peace, you don't even need to own Danzig as there's currently no check marker in the achievement's code for Danzig, France is the only requirement.

Start game - justify on France or someone they're guaranteein at the start - Kill france - puppet some piece of France so a fascist France exists - that's it.

No, you cannot have been at war with france at any point.

Mikey is right, FuscusNight. You can't have set the flag invalid_for_danzig_achievement, which means if you go to war with France or Poland at any moment, the achievement can't be done for the rest of the game. I tested it.

how did you do the dont die for your country? i have tried that one a few times but never works. paradrop spam? heavy tanks?

i just got it, not really sure how. all i did was demand sudet they denied. it was still early '37 i win by '38 make vichy france and i got the achievment. still dont know why since i have yet to touch poland

No, no. Paradrops are not allowed for this achievement, and heavy tanks are so expensive. It's a bit hard, you will have to restart several times till it works, but I will tell you how I did it. The "trick" is just use light tanks, and taking just Danzig (not the rest of Poland). Also, you have to defeat France and UK with naval invasions:

1º) Prepare all your troops on the frontiers with the enemies (France and Poland). Reserve all your light tanks (about 11) in one army. Place it near Danzig. Also, move all your ships to any port at west of Denmark and merge them on one single army. Put them with the mission "protect naval invasion" and choose the two "sea-provinces" from Germany to France.

2º) When war starts (don't invite your allies), ONLY ATTACK DANZIG. Use the tanks and all your planes. Each point from this, remember to move all your planes to the zones you need in that moment. Once Danzig is yours (doesn't mind if u lost the East territories), move your tanks army to your nearest port to Netherlands.

3º) Prepare a naval invasion from Germany to France (one tank of the army for each coastal province of France from Belgium, till 10). Being one tank for province, you can launch the invasion in just 7 days. Also, the ships on "protect naval invasion" mission will guarantee you enough naval superiority.

4º) Launch the naval invasion and move quick your tanks to the victory points. Try not to fight against french divisions if possible, taking other ways if necessary. France will surrend quick.

5º) Once France has capitulated, repeat the naval-invasion strategy against UK. Again, don't fight against their troops if possible, just focus on victory points.

6º) When France and UK capitulate, the war will end. At the peace deal, you can take all UK, France and Poland territories.

You will probably have to repeat several times, because sometimes Poland attacks you and u will reach some thousands casualties. However, game starts in August '39 and most of times you will do (or not) in just 20-30 minutes, so you can repeat it many times in very few time. With a bit of patience, you will get the achievement. Is not easy, but also not so hard if you follow this guide. Searching in YouTube "hoi4 Dont Die For Your Country" u will find several videos (2-3) that explain this strategy.

I believe that is the wrong achievement. You are describing the "Dont Die for you Country" achievement, which is for suffering under 475 casualties. This thread is for the achievement of not going to war with France at all.

Bad Boys, you can go to war with Poland, but not with France.

As you can see it is only a limit on France.

Tbh the absolute best way to get it is to play with historic off and keep restarting until France chooses to go fascist themselves... everything else just takes way too long
