Hearts of Iron IV
What Causes the Worker Strikes?
So I have had this occur to me twice now and it is getting a bit old. I remove Political Violence from France, then once I am over 75% Stability or so, I revoke the Agreements to get my economy working properly. However, This causes a Worker's Strike sometimes, and that is basically lethal to a playthrough as France as by that point you can't re-arm your nation and cannot produce anything either. So what I want to know is how I can avoid that happening since as stated previously, this is the 2nd time this has happened and I have no idea what I am doing wrong to trigger it now and not other times. Anyone have an answer to this?

Alternatively I would suggest you post your question on the
official Paradox HOI 4 forum[forum.paradoxplaza.com]. There are very knowledgeable and helpful people there, some are even able to reverse-engineer the game's scripts to figure out why the game behaves the way it does. And sometimes even Paradox staff responds. I read it regularly and this topic has not come up yet since the release of 1.9 Husky. If you're not already a member and/or are not willing to post there for whatever reason, I could post the question there myself since I'm very curious about it.

One binge of how to use that site later, and I have posted it in there along with the current information I have gathered in rushing through a playthrough, not changing anything aside from random events of course.
Someone in a thread on reddit regarding the revised France focus tree said:

"The Maginon Agreements" national spirit from a focus can be removed as soon as you have 50pp, but it doesn't tell you that if you remove it too early, you get strikes, which give you massive debuffs for a year. (-90 factory and dockyard output, plus minus stability and some other stuff)

He/she doesn't mention any source for this information, but it sounds plausible and would indeed explain the results both OP and I got.

Now it would be nice to know how "early" is "too early" in this case.

It's still a bad change to the game, it's just a "surprise!" from the game designers: there is no useful or actionable information provided to the player, no strategy involved. We have to rely on meta-information to "cheat" around it.
According to the Forums, if you have more than 25% Communist Support in your Gov, you will get strikes. They also note that this is never mentioned anywhere and so I imagine this is likely datamined. Still, if this is true that is not cool in my book.
Yeah, I saw it, thanks.

I think the person who gave this response is mistaken. See my further comments there.
What I've seen in the event files, the strikes can happen between April 36 and January 38. They also only happen if you finished the Popular front Focus and don't have the Matignon Agreements. So if you cancel them after January 38 you should be fine.

Lol, or you can use common sense and realize that : forming an agreement with the workers, and than basically instantly backtracking on it will lead to issues with said workers in a nation that has a strong industrial organized unionized workforce.

Just don't revoke Agreements before 1938. That's it. I know it's old thread but still...
I had less than 25 communist support and still got the strikes. It´s so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid that there are no way to know the requirements. 1 jan 1938 works. I even read someone who claims that 20 dec 1937 works.
