Editing Difficulty
Hi so in the past I used to be able to edit the difficulty under the "static modifers" file but as of now, if I edit the file and save it, it saves with my changes but the game still uses the old difficulty settings despite them not technicaly existing anymore. Are they stored in multiple locations or what? Does anyone have any ideas?

I also edit the static modifiers but by creating a small local mod, where I put the edited file in. ( no attrition to ships in arctic water ).

It has work before 1.9*. and worked with 1.9.0 and LaR.

What did you edit?

Mainly the research speed; I set it to 1000% as a lark and it used to work but now it stays at 100% even with the file changed

As an aside, editing defines works fine, so it's only the static modifiers file that is resisting editing.

I also made a seperate mod that just changes difficulty and loaded that as well and the game still runs with base values

I cut the modifiers folder from the base game entirely and it still ran fine, so it's not even looking at the static modifiers when it opens so where is the difficulty kept now?!

Research speed is not a "statitic-modifier" coming from that file; research speed is an idea, like a national spirit!

So if you want more research speed edit an idiea or a national spirit which will no be deleted via focus etc.

Example for Germany ( general staff in this case) to get 100% more research speed.

general_staff = {

allowed = {
original_tag = GER
}

allowed_civil_war = {
always = yes
}

removal_cost = -1

modifier = {
army_org_Factor = 0.05
planning_speed = 0.25

research_speed_factor = 1.0

}
}

So there's no way to change the difficulty effects anymore then? What does picking a different difficulty do then if not apply affects?

I didn't say anything like that... I only state something about editing "research-speed"

You can mod moszly every "difficulties" in that game.

What does picking a different difficulty do then if not apply affects?

These effects do still work as intended.

May be I missunderstood you, so.

If you mean the "difficulty settings" in the start screen like: Very easy, Easy; Normal...etc

Those were and are still in the static-modifiers and you can still edit those stats.

I didn't see a reason, why this shouldn't work.

If you want to get 1000% you have to set

research_speed_factor = 10.0

I did set the research speed higher for the easy difficulty but when i select it and open the game I have no bonus. In fact, hovering over the difficulty options in game no longer gives a dropdown list of effects which is starting to look like difficulty has been patched out entirely for whatever reason. Im going to validate my file just to be safe and see.

So I think I finally figured it out: I validated and it added a modifiers folder in the common folder that was removed in the update, and changing *that* static modifier works. What an odessy
