Hosting a government in exile?
Figured I would try this out as Mexico since there is an achievement for it.

The only problem is I have absolutely no @#$%ing clue how.

The help files are worthless the only mention of exiled governments is the advertisement for Man the Guns.

So has anyone had the option for this?
1. Do they ask you?
2. Do you need to be in the same faction?
3. What relations do you need?
4. I assume government types need to match?

France capitulated and completely disappeared from the country, as did Switzerland. So like it is kind of hard to ask an exiled country if they no longer exist.

So if a country like Poland or Belgium joins and allies and capitulate they are in exile in the UK. You can get they're troops and even make them too including they're generals by upping legitimats. To do that you need to do Political options like arm Polish resistance which fires rebellions in occupied territory or even train polish brigades, have them in Britian and fully control them.

You need to be faction leader and they need to capitulate. Also, AFAIK, you have to be democratic, but I'm not sure.

If it needs to be democratic its a badly done feature. What if Im playing as Germany, am allied with Italy, and they capitulate? Cant I welcome their exiled government into my country?

iirc, only democrats can go into exile and only democrats can have an exile in their nation, as faction leader too mind you. I'd recommend a mod on the workshop that already popped up, but you mentioned you want an achievement, so I guess you gotta be democrat, make a faction and get them to join you.

Well thanks for the info since Paradox failed to provide how it works.

Man, have to be democratic and faction leader. I guess that is how I ended up in Canada yesterday after the UK decided to release all the colonies then go communist. So you do not get an option of where to go.

I figured any government could go into exile with a similar government. I went non-aligned figuring that might open more possibilities, but apparently not.

It definitely aint going to be an easy achievement with the new rules and focus for Mexico. You literally start with like 12 stability and 10 war support, then are plagued by rogue general and the church. Which the church easily ends up in a civil war because it does not have the open talks like changing governments.

Well back to the drawing board for thsi achievement, lol.

Well I got the achievement...hosting Greece as Mexico.

France went with Little Entente. UK went to war to defend one of Germany's punching bags, then UK immediately broke into a civil war and like immediately lost, so it became Axis leaving me as leader.

Then next thing I know someone surrenders and I become an Axis puppet...

Nope... I think I was the highest ranked democratic government in the faction?

Wrong. It depends on WHO takes you out and HOW they take you out. If you get straight up annexed then you get exiled IF you are a democracy or one of the European countries with over seas assets. If you are ineligible for exile then it is game over. If the conqueror decides to puppet you then you become their ♥♥♥♥♥.

If that happens you are kind of screwed anyway.
