If I'd paid for it I'd be rather disappointed to say the least...
EDIT: Also the balance was shot to hell and back by the changes, AI Axis wins Eurasian/African theatre in 9/10 of my saves so far.
The AI is interesting now, almost zerg like. Will have to keep testing. Overall as mentioned before, we'll see.
As far as I understand, whether or not you get a light or heavy cruiser depends on what gun batteries/armor types you give it. So I think a heavy cruiser gun battery is all you need to make it a heavy. It's similar with battleships and battlecruisers except with that it is determined by the armor, not guns.
Also want to add that the naval interface is really odd in my opinion and rather confusing, the added amount of research for ships with no extra research slot ability is pretty horrid considering the amount of research required to maintain your military and industrial tech levels.
they also managed to make the game laggy as ♥♥♥♥ by 1939 now instead of 1940 so thats nice haha still play it though.
The game has always been a dumpster fire, they just added a little kerosene.
MTG is sadly very underwhelming with many of the features being either badly executed (Naval Combat/Congress) or a shell of what they were intended to be (modular shipbuilding/AI improvements).
Somehow they actually managed to make the AI worse. FFS The French abandoned the Maginot and ran to the Italian Border, totally disregarding Belgium/Luxembourg and the Maginot as a whole. France capitulated in 8 days. 8. Days.
I say it's only a matter of months before Paradox announces it's abandonment for HOI4 and moves on to Imperator and other projects they've got going on.
I was playing Japan, Kongos were so fast, i mean way too fast. Kaga was converted from battleship hull and having no armor or 8 inches guns.
Before this expansion, players were complaining that the submarines are useless and now they are OP. Why? Cause the subs can shoot and shoot those torpedoes lol. Submarines can carry limited torpedoes then got to head back to major ports for rearm.
I checked the equipment slots there is no supply usage, only the unit class that will need supply to operate it. Dunno what they were thinking, they need to get their asses together and fix this.
I wont mod this game until they finally decided to stop working on it, every time they add a patch and/or expansions, gotta go over every details and make sure it is working, otherwise can cause crashes.
They're still OP tho.
?? My PC is a potato and I didn't start lagging until 42/43. You can't really get away with ignoring navy since the AI will actually convoy raid the ♥♥♥♥ out of you if you let them. In multiplayer especially it's gonna be important.
I will agree they need to make some quality of life improvements to the naval UI because it is a bit of a mess, and hard to follow, as well as the lack of more research slots with all the extra tech. As for the fuel system, it seems like everyone is complaining that you can figure out how to manage it properly. Would you rather it be a gigantic pain in the ass that grinds your war effort to a complete halt the second you run out? I certainly wouldn't, seeing as their as more stuff to micro now. It would not be fun to be forced to sit there doing nothing until your fuel levels trickle back up, it's fine as it is just causing some debuffs, afterall, that's what happens with resources, lack of equipment, etc.
Too bad there is no depot, like stockpile supplies and fuels. Infact the oils are crude oils that need to send back to refineries to make fuels for those operate from it. Maybe it was slowing down the whole system, that the users will have to have a kick ass pc to do it. Idk.
But they seriously need to put more efforts into this, this MtGs isnt going to work well the way things are setup.
