Anyone else kinda disappointed with Man The Guns?
I've been hyped for this DLC since last year, but now it's released and it's just so... meh. Not to mention a bit broken. And I definitely don't think it was worth $20. Am I the only one?

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's an absolutely horrible DLC or anything. I'm actually enjoying it for the most part. It's just a little underwhelming. Some of the changes are great but some are also really stupid and unnecessary (Like the border changes).

its okay. certain things are really nice additions. like laying mines. it feels like the ai is being smarter with its focuses. however the naval ui is really bad and needs serious work

I fail to understand what Paradox were actually doing for the past year developing this, because it's even buggier than their normal releases and has, for all intents and purposes, the same level of content.

If I'd paid for it I'd be rather disappointed to say the least...

EDIT: Also the balance was shot to hell and back by the changes, AI Axis wins Eurasian/African theatre in 9/10 of my saves so far.

The mods, well, mods are almost always in need of an update when a game changes basic core programming. nuff said on mods, thank you all for making mods, shame on you if your complaining your mod doesn't work after a large update.

The AI is interesting now, almost zerg like. Will have to keep testing. Overall as mentioned before, we'll see.

Nah best DLC so far really.,, actually brings in some decent content... instead of just some nation trees and bug fixes.

It actually makes naval warfare a lot more interesting, but since they didn't revamp land warfare (which is a good chunk of the game, if not most of it) it's still really boring on land.

Dudes.... I don't see in naval research any heavy cruiser... Just light cruiser models hulls but when I go into production I have Heavy cruisers avaiable such as Panzerschiff and Admiral Hyper Class (playing as Germany).. Help? What is wrong?

As far as I understand, whether or not you get a light or heavy cruiser depends on what gun batteries/armor types you give it. So I think a heavy cruiser gun battery is all you need to make it a heavy. It's similar with battleships and battlecruisers except with that it is determined by the armor, not guns.

Not really... The hull is different. I have 2 different skins for heavy cruisers when i go into production. On naval research the skins that appear are of light cruisers hulls

Well the fuel system is so easy to manage for most countries it is pretty much just an annoyance to deal with in my opinion. The new naval stuff can honestly just be completley forgotten about just like it was originally, I have played games so far as Germany, Italy, USA, Mexico, and Netherlands and even as the majors you can get away with ignoring your navy all together and still function in a war effortlessly.

Also want to add that the naval interface is really odd in my opinion and rather confusing, the added amount of research for ships with no extra research slot ability is pretty horrid considering the amount of research required to maintain your military and industrial tech levels.

they also managed to make the game laggy as ♥♥♥♥ by 1939 now instead of 1940 so thats nice haha still play it though.

Oh stop it, no they didn't.

The game has always been a dumpster fire, they just added a little kerosene.

MTG is sadly very underwhelming with many of the features being either badly executed (Naval Combat/Congress) or a shell of what they were intended to be (modular shipbuilding/AI improvements).

Somehow they actually managed to make the AI worse. FFS The French abandoned the Maginot and ran to the Italian Border, totally disregarding Belgium/Luxembourg and the Maginot as a whole. France capitulated in 8 days. 8. Days.

I say it's only a matter of months before Paradox announces it's abandonment for HOI4 and moves on to Imperator and other projects they've got going on.

Yup, there should be ammo counts for each weapon slots and they also took out the weapon's range. They going to have to put more efforts in this expansion, otherwise many will have their refunded or disabled the expansion addon.

I was playing Japan, Kongos were so fast, i mean way too fast. Kaga was converted from battleship hull and having no armor or 8 inches guns.

Before this expansion, players were complaining that the submarines are useless and now they are OP. Why? Cause the subs can shoot and shoot those torpedoes lol. Submarines can carry limited torpedoes then got to head back to major ports for rearm.

I checked the equipment slots there is no supply usage, only the unit class that will need supply to operate it. Dunno what they were thinking, they need to get their asses together and fix this.

I wont mod this game until they finally decided to stop working on it, every time they add a patch and/or expansions, gotta go over every details and make sure it is working, otherwise can cause crashes.

This is the only part of your post that is incorrect... The Germans used 'Milk Cow' U-boats to supply other boats with bread, ammunition, fuel, ect. The Kriegsmarine also operated merchant vessels that would do the same, allowing U-boats to stay out on patrol much longer.

They're still OP tho.

well they dumbed down the entire game series from hoi3 by removing every economy aspect in the game. there is really no economic war to be won in hoi4 its all about whos ♥♥♥♥ has the most tech and higher numbers.

?? My PC is a potato and I didn't start lagging until 42/43. You can't really get away with ignoring navy since the AI will actually convoy raid the ♥♥♥♥ out of you if you let them. In multiplayer especially it's gonna be important.

I will agree they need to make some quality of life improvements to the naval UI because it is a bit of a mess, and hard to follow, as well as the lack of more research slots with all the extra tech. As for the fuel system, it seems like everyone is complaining that you can figure out how to manage it properly. Would you rather it be a gigantic pain in the ass that grinds your war effort to a complete halt the second you run out? I certainly wouldn't, seeing as their as more stuff to micro now. It would not be fun to be forced to sit there doing nothing until your fuel levels trickle back up, it's fine as it is just causing some debuffs, afterall, that's what happens with resources, lack of equipment, etc.
TheCr33pur Mar 3, 2019 @ 11:32am
All they need to do is add supply usage for those equipment, so much used up then the ship or fleet will ended up going back to major ports for rearm.

Too bad there is no depot, like stockpile supplies and fuels. Infact the oils are crude oils that need to send back to refineries to make fuels for those operate from it. Maybe it was slowing down the whole system, that the users will have to have a kick ass pc to do it. Idk.

But they seriously need to put more efforts into this, this MtGs isnt going to work well the way things are setup.
