Design lacks one or more required modules
I cant build ships anymore. I have Man the Guns, but I guess it's not recognized? How do I fix this or is this just a known bug to wait out?

When you go to naval production click on create variant, then you go into the ship design and add which modules you want. It costs Navy exp to add modules so you want to start naval exercises asap.

Depending on the type of ship such as destroyer, battleship, sub, etc,etc ,you will have to have the Required modules installed before you add any other extra modifications.

such as destroyers you need the small gun mounts installed or it's not even a destroyer yet. For the light cruiser or heavy cruiser you'll need the 6-in or 8-in guns installed first or they're not even considered a cruiser at that point

If you dont have MtG then you don't need to create variants as the ship designs are pre-scripted

You need navy experience to create new ships with all their modules and to be able to build them.

That means you either need to appoint a naval military advisor to get a daily gain of experience or you have to send your existing fleet to training to grind navy experience for you. It usually takes 3XP to add a new module.

Almost the same system is used to upgrade your tanks (land experience) or planes (air experience) with the only exception that you can't really create new ships wihout the required experience while you can build the basic tanks or planes from the beginning after you researched them.

Take for instance the United States you can send all your ships out on experience training mission but be careful that they don't get destroyed by training accidents so keep an eye on them also keep an eye on your oil because the larger battleships and carriers will eat a lot of oil fast.

Also you can gain naval experience by getting a Navy doctrine admiral.

i have never seen a ship get destroyed while training iv had fleets training for YEARS and the worst damage was like 90% so in theory it could happen but you would have to have fleets training for so long it would be insane.

That's nice to know I've never had ships training for a long period of time but I may test this in the future and see what happens. I always took those ships that were heavily damaged out of the fleet and had them repair. Over the weekend if I do test this theory and I have one sink I will come back to this thread and give more detail but thanks for the information.

Are you using a mod? (specially a conversion mod)

A lot of mods have the navy designed to require Mtg.
Vanilla without Mtg shouldn't show this message.

I just searched on the RT56 reddit and found someone having exactly the same issue.

It seems they didn't add default module to some ship which create this bug.

Probably best to let the people who created this mod the details (exactly which ships from which country is affected) so they can fix it whenever they update the mod.

It is the level 2 destroyer for Germany. But I've played them before with the mod and it has never happened, literally just popped up. Last time I played Germany was like a month ago
