Did anyone try the "30 Minutes of Hell Achievement" Yet?

Sounds very hard. Surviving as Poland would be hard enough but causing 1,8Mil casualties sound even worst.

It also still doesn't allow you to get Achievements when starting in 1939 so i'm not even sure how you are supposed to do this.

Just launch a civil war in the same hour as germany declared war. After that you should be invited to axis. After that Germany will win civil war for you. Some territories will be lost to Soviet. After that you can with no pressure build your army and backstab germans

You can get the achievement with the 1939 start. I tried it several times, furthest I came was 656K casualties before collapsing, I will definitely give it another go in the near future. You need to lower the speed of the game and be really defensive and careful. Micromanaging is the key, in the last playthrough I could have made it if I did not make the mistake of accidently breaking my entrenchment of my other stack of troops. It takes a lot of attempts, but in the end I think it’s worth getting the achievement as it really shows skills (if you do not use any glitches / exploits).

I can confirm that after the latest update the Feedbackbackgaming method does not work as the AI refuses to be pocketed, I already noticed this during my last playthrough as Italy when I tried to take out Czechoslovakia through Romania, and also here they refused to move into the pocket/trap I created. I’m attempting the challenge today again employing some different strategies that I have developed myself and see if it works. I will definitely get that achievement this week.

At the cost of 606K brave polish lives I achieved the 30 Minutes of Hel achievement today. Inflicting a total of 1.8Mil casualties on the Germans. My only tile left was Warsaw. In this game I was part of the Allies.

Total divisions left: 14.
Fielded army at end: 171.13K (of which 30.30k were still in training)
Date: February 12, 1948. (Yes, really!)
War: German - American War (2).

Allied Losses: 20.58Mil (Includes Russia)
Axis Losses: 14.10Mil (Includes Japan)

Allies Fielded Army: 8.43Mil (Includes Russia)
Axis Fielded Army: 19.3Mil - 22.6Mil (Includes Japan)

Is it still possible in 2020? My strategy right now is actually to just try to kill as many Germans before capitulation and (Keep this a secret) You can still do the achievment even after capitulation so as long as you have some army after surrendering because of how the AI works any troops that escape to the UK the AI will give them to you and you can use them to endlessly run into German lines.

The problems with this strategy is
1. No matter how big my army is when I capitulate I always only have 1 division escape
2. Its so annoying having no factories this means that when your 1 division dies its game over.

I have gotten this achievement. My strategy was to rush fort construction around Warsaw, then have my army make a defensive line. I also went down the path for communism, and join the Comintern. I guess I was lucky lol, but yeah the Soviet Army went and helped me out with lend leases and volunteers. I also rushed trained infantry divisions and held on for dear life, as the German war machine was becoming difficult to stop. I had troops on the German border, not on the offensive but I just needed divisions to buy time for my defensive wall. I also had a focus on air production, and tried my best to maintain air supremacy. In the end, I was pushed back to the Warsaw forts but in the end I did get the achievement.
and yes, you can get this achievement and don't die for danzig (another hoi4 1939 start achievement.)

What version are you on? I am on the current version and all DLC and Germany just immediatly declares war on me as soon as I click start so I have no time to entrench and even on some lucky games when I do entrench they still steam roll me regardless.

I'm on the latest version of course. I never roll back, and one of my steam friends just recently did the challenge on the latest version with the tactic I described, so it's very much possible.

Also, right before Germany takes all your states, mass recruit division till you have no manpower left, then cancel the recruitment to gain a manpower bonus, just like you see here in this picture. Moreover, focus all your mils on inf equipment.
