Mines,over powered?
A few friends and I were playing the new dlc and I was Germany i build a really big fleet of subs dedicated to mine laying(about 200 subs) and my friends started to complain that they were a bit overpowered. Anyone else had run into any similar issues?

I had same problem lol.

@Greenblade mines sure are powerfull. But irl mines was THE navykiller. Its a cheap counter to expensive fleets. Im not sure it is op,but i have only done one game so far,and i kinda forgot about the mines. It is to early to tell.

I tried to counter OP (he's a bud of mine) but I was unprepared for the sheer amount of Mines he threw into the fold, The Allies lost control of the English Channel because we just couldn't field a Navy into it, I had 25 Mine Sweepers (and more building) and only got the English channel down to 875 mines instead of 1,000.

They did say that it's cheaper to lay mines that get rid of them - so it could raise an issue of people who know they won't be able to fight against a more powerful navy e.g. Germany vs UK simply spamming the absolute kaiser out of mine laying.
Maybe there should be some kind efficiency fall off as the amount of mines in an area increase (could be explained by ships having to avoid the 1000s of mines in an area) - or perhaps simply decrease the speed that they are laid.
Theoretically it seems balanced to me. It seems like in this scenario the German player basically dedicated a major portion of their naval production to minelayer subs, if the British player had produced minesweepers to a similar ratio (sweepers to layers) they would have been able to keep on top of the mines being laid. At the same time, due to Britain's greater naval production, they could have also produced ASW destroyers to destroy those minelayers among other things.

It seems like the British player was caught flat-footed or at the least underestimated the number of minesweepers they'd need. Assuming that the two players were both laying more mines and trying to sweep them up simultaneously, the numbers given suggests that the sweepers had the upper hand, just that they were starting from so far behind that the channel was effectively impassible despite their efforts.

Kinda like complaining fire is op if you wait until the entire building is alight before starting to fight it.

Those subs and lighter ships doesnt have much hit points. Calculate from armor points vs. mine damage. In real life back then, those mines are deadly to smaller vessels. Can do some minor damage to capital ships though. So just get some light cruisers with remove mines ability on it and start sweeping the areas that bothering you.
