Breakthrough the enemy line with tank divisions, then keep pushing the tanks forward, have motorised divisions follow the tanks to make sure the supply line stays open, and to put themselves in the way of the enemy divisions.

When you do this, you also attack the enemy line with a broad attack across the entre section of the enemy front which you wish to trap, this keeps those divisions in place locked into combat, unable to retreat. Keep up the attack long enough for your tanks and motorised to complete the encirclement / press home their advantage (the 'success' of this attack has nothing to do with the red, yellow or green circles that pop up, these mean nothing for encirclements, you are not trying to beat the enemy divisions in these fights, just keep them occupied).

As soon as the encirclement is completed and you have divisions in place to meet any breakout attempts, cease the attack and let the enemy divisions 'panic', retreat and try to escape back to their own lines, follow them with your line divisions to close the pocket, weather their breakout attempts and then either wipe them all out to clean up or leave them encircled and let them attrit to hell and lose all organisation first before attacking, the former means the enemy put up a defense and you take losses in combat but clean up quickly, the latter (is usually prefferable) takes a long time to do but minimises the causualties you take. Which one you do depends on how problematic that pocket is to supply lines, the risk of them being bale to breakout and simply if you can afford the manpower loss to beat them.

Note: You do not need to use Tanks or Motorised to do this, encirclements can be completed with infantry alone IF they can breakthrough, but this causes more causualties for yourside and is obviously slower which gives your opponent more chance to react.

Further note, make sure encircled divisions are not being supplied via port access or by their capital city, otherwise they won't de-org or start receiving attrition.

His advice about tanks is totally wrong, don't listen to him. Not tanks but cavalry are best for breakthrough since cavalry has high enough speed to encircle enemy division and battalions with regiments, and cavalry needs much less supply.

This may be because I'm a Germany main, but I've had truly spectacular success with tanks. Cavalry has always seemed to me the poor man's tank division, and tank divisions can also double as very effective fire brigade forces on the defense, so I have to disagree

But you know that tanks have WAY better breakthrow and they also have bonus that makes them lose 50% less ORG and make enemy lose 50% more ORG as long as they are not pierced right?
In my opinion build as many MEDIUM tanks as possible, they are very fast (tier 3 with engine boosts can be faster than motorized) and they are superior to almost everything
