Why does the German Reich have to have a censored flag?
HoI4 is a historical game and I don't understand why some themes are censored.

Right general idea along the lines of history is biased towards who tells it.
Machukuo is a really good example of that.

Pre-war the US loved Machukuo, during the war it's suddenly viewed as a puppet state, then after the war the analysis on it by Japan, China, and outside nations is constantly evolving.

look here, bud
an older perspective on history is not better
calling out a change is not a form of criticism for anyone sane
in fact, science, by definition, moves forward by questioning old paradigms

also respond to the rest of my post :^)

good job glossing over the Soviet Union's crimes against humanity, and the PRC's crimes against humanity.

The Americans are worse in many regards, both prior and after ww2, even during, but the victor tells the story. That is the real problem here, people think its just about a silly flag, that is not what people argue against, but rather to censor what some deem problematic, and then just ignore the rest because they wanna replace their crimes against humanity with a beacon of light.

AFAIK The US is the only (Union) country in the world to have ever used a nuke to kill innocent civilians and without reason even.
Please tell me you're referring to something other than Hiroshima and Nagasaki, because there was a reason for that even though whether it's a good reason or not is up for debate. It's also one of the only crimes included in the game.

I'd also like you to back up your claim that America was worse than Nazi Germany during WW2 because that is an incredibly bold claim.

their claim is that every country does plenty of ♥♥♥♥ all throughout history, so singling one out is a joke

Their claim was "The Americans are worse in many regards, both prior and after ww2, even during".

I'm curious what America did that makes them worse than Germany or the USSR or whoever they were referring to.

the victor does not tell the story, that is such a silly platitude
just like in any other academic discipline, there was a continuity in nazi professors in historical science in the successor states of the countries that lost and they got to dictate much of the early historical narrative there
not only that, but it was extremely opportune to come up with a false narrative that was comfortable to the countries that lost due to wanting to avoid a repeat of versailles/st germaine as a rallying cry for future fascist incursion

stop spreading lies about matters you are unfamiliar with

right, it's the one who blocked me because flags=history :^)

Whenever someone says this, I try and remember that, like, 80% of what I know about the German war effort comes from Nazi generals trying to cover their own asses and blame everyone else for their failure.
