Im trying to play as non-aligned Japan, any tips or guide/straregy?

1) you don't need to take this way at the begining. Aka you can wait about 1 year, because you cannot justify a war when you're neutral before world tension is at 50% min...

so take the Kohoda way when world tension is about to exceed 50%... if you want make early wars of course.

2) you cannot attack China & Asia shpere because you need 75% world tension even as facist, and, as support kohoda, you'll not have the Marco Polo incident.
It's ok, you don't need China.

With this way, you'll never build a faction because the focus don't give that and it is the way to stay neutral and... ally with German Reich... (to gain a big bonus in research)

So, you've a natural ally which is called german reich...

What i do is to ally with german, send troops to germany, justify against Holland and make a naval invasion.

You cannot invade from a neutral country (Germany will not make war against Holland) but you can always make a naval invasion from neutral land.

After puppet the Dutch East Indies and puppet or annex Holland (puppet is less damageful to world tension)

3) you have now a bridgeheads to conquer Europe and south Asia (and rubber too...)

You can do what you want (often i look towards England in second as you've a good navy).

Remember you need 3 months to send troops from Japan to Europe and you need a lot of convoy too.

I don't bother of China, it gives far less than Europe.

Oh another tip
I find thet bicycle infantry is very good.
It is considered as leg infantry so has the same bonuses than leg inf. on doctrine, which is not the case of cavalry.
Bicycle inf. has a big qualities, it needs only a little equipment (the bicycle) and goes at the same speed as heavy tank...

Japan is very specialized in infantry (see their general) so it may be a good option not to do armor division which are very costly, but to put 1 or 2 batallions of heavy tank with bicycle inf will give some armor and breakthrough to your inf: the supply keeps low and your inf division is fast (5 or 6 km/h) as well as punchy.
