How does the AI create custom factions?
I'm very familiar with HOI4's mechanics by now. But now one thing is on my mind. So I have a mod that deletes all the factions in the game but does not disable faction creating. I noticed that a few games back I played, I deleted all the factions but once Germany declared war on Poland, France and Britain creates a faction with a new name even though the Allies are deleted from the game.

How does this work? I mean, how does the AI create custom factions? Under what circumstances does the AI creates a new custom faction that is a non-focus faction?

I'm pretty sure if no factions remain the ai will make more just to stop one strong nation from taking over everything. To a player, it pretty much feels like a 'maybe if we annoy you enough you'll stop playing and we win. pls.'

It's fair for the AI to do that. But when you have certain games where, on a unhistorical gamemode, (and I only play those with World of Alternatives) that Austria-Hungary declares war on Romania to which somehow democratic Germany declares war on Austria-Hungary in which Austria-Hungary FOR SOME DAMN REASON, joins the comintern out of nowhere. This is somewhat my pet peeve. When a country joins a faction that it seems like in the real world it will never join it. If there was a mod that made certain countries or ideologies pick a faction that suits them in their own path, I would download it in a heartbeat. But for now, I am testing it with deleted factions.

I'm assuming they joined the Comitern because Germany was at war with the Comitern. The only country that almost can't join a faction that isn't of its political alignment is the US. But they can join the Comitern through a focus only

Years later, you replied to this thread. I started playing HOI4 in 2018. I was arrogant to think how the game works. This thread was a noob question from me. Based on how advance the game is today and how advanced HOI4 mods made today, I don't have this problem anymore.
