If you have Together For Victory I think you can do it through the Manage Subjects screen.

I've never tried releasing a puppet state, honestly I'm not sure it's possible.

Yeah I wasnt sure either but I ended up buying both of those dlcs cause someone told me I could release my puppets with the TFV dlc but I just haven't figured out how to do it yet.

It's not possible. They have to release themselves by raising their autonomy, or you can do so by focus sometimes (Britain can release the Raj that way for instance)

Awh well that sucks, thanks for the answer! Maybe Ill just try get Phillipines to turn Fascist then to avoid Japan from attacking them.

Well that didn't work lol, damn it I just want to release the Phillipines so I wont get pulled into the war when Japan attacks.

build factories on their territory to lower their autonomy, then annex them. you can then either release them as free, or keep them (which means that japan will have to justify on usa).
however this will take some pp, and getting pp is hard for usa early on, so not sure its actually worth it.

Ill give that a try for this next game. PP isnt too bad to come by in the beginning once I get the +15 Politcal Power Gain from one of the advisors. Ill try that though, Im just getting tired of getting pulled into a war with Japan when they attack.

What's the problem in that? just build 4 carriers and spam BBs until it exceeds 100 port capacity, then repeat the process and roll over Japan.

True, I could do that. I was just trying to be a casual and get all of South America first before I started getting involved in the war.

I like to mix in a few destroyers with each fleet to kill subs but yeah that would definitely wipe out ♥♥♥♥ fleet quite nicely.
