A day or so before the battle starts start nuking the port and keep nuking it until the enemy breaks.
Once you are on the ground advance ASAP! I cannot stress this enough. You need!!!! to get off the port province otherwise the japanese counterattack will catch your forces there and eliminate them.
Personally I prefer landing at Nagasaki taking over all of Kyushu island before establishing a perimeter at the two crossings then keep nuking the enemy taking great strides in hitting the guys defending the crossing and any airfields on Honshu and Shikoku to limit their air power. If you feel up to it you can push over the crossing and move on Hiroshima, you are already fairly secure on the islands if you hold Kyushu as they will never be able to press you off the crossings without nukes.
Also make sure you prioritize the repair of the port facilities in Nagasaki as well as the infrastructure on Kyushu or you will quickly run out of supplies.
So i should send entire heavy tank divisions over to attack their ports? 0.0
and anyway i dont have nukes yet lol
and if i nuke the port wouldnt my troops run out of supply quickly even if i priorities the port repair?
As Germany you always want to take out France ASAP, it will make your life much easier. Justify on France ASAP before they join the Allies or world tension goes over 25%, draw a fallback line, let them come through the Maginot, keep them in place with your infantry and surround them with your tanks (2 - 3 tank light tank divisions are enough).
When you capitulate France do not annex them but puppet them first, as fascist Germany you get a 50 pp decision which allows you to annex them within a few days on certain conditions and this way you gain their entire fleet.
Now you have the fleet size to easily capitulate Great Britain and annex all of their puppets as well. There's a little island close to Canada, Madagascar close to South Africa, access to the British Raj through land as well as access to the British Malaya through the sea and a few islands close to Australia and New Zealand as well.
Have 1 division ready to invade Canada, 1 for South Africa, 1 for British Malaya, 1 for Australia and 1 for New Zealand. Have 2 or 3 at the border with the British Raj to defend.
Make sure to invade Great Britain throught the English channel as soon as you start the war because they will gain naval superiority sooner or later even though you have a much stronger fleet with France's navy.
You don't need to capitulate Britain's puppets, after you gain a foothold in Britain, bring in enough infantry and tank divisions and take the entire south and middle parts of it, bring them close to capitulation but be careful not to end the war yet.
Then launch your invasions on its puppets and give them a bit of warscore, 1% is enough. When you do this capitulate Britain and annex all of them directly.I usually manage to do this in early 1939. When you capitulate Britain it's better to puppet them and annex them by building and lend leasing to them in order to gain their massive fleet.
After that I find it's best to build the infrastructure in Canada in order to invade the US because the more you let them, the more powerful they become due to their almost unlimited resources, industry and manpower.
Annex or puppet and annex them if you want their navy as well. From that point on you can easily destroy Japan's navy so that's no problem. Regarding their army though, they usually win against China so you can just send a few armies at your borders with the Chinese provinces, most of their divisions will be in the continent in order to defend their conquered territory so you'll be able to launch invasions to their mainland and capitulate them.
Are you telling him to restart his whole game instead of giving tips on how to beat Japan in his situation?
i only play as germany or ussr but im on 1.4 lol
and yea im asking for late game naval invasions not how to defeat japan or conquer the world asap
what if im playing as some other country or even a minor and i face this problem again as well?
Battleships near the port helps for shore bombardment. Of course you want as many planes supporting the battle as possible.
Once you take the port immediately send additional divisions to secure your landing zone based on the amount of supply you have. Do not oversend troops! Check the naval port level. If it is level 1, then upgrade it to 10 immediately.
Oh ok, you didn't mention that you're playing on an outdated version but most of the advice still applies, except from the 50 pp decision to annex France that is. Right now your best hope is to use all your dockyards to start producing battleships to destroy Japan's navy and light cruisers as well as destroyers, and dozens of factories to produce naval bombers to help your navy.
You could try to let Japan gain a foothold in mainland Asia if they do naval invasions, otherwise nuke them and pray that's enough for you to gain a foothold on their island, also use marines. That's all you can do at this point.
anyone knows how much supply can a port ship at level one? xD
The most important part about invading Japan/UK is that you need one of two things to happen:
1. Their Navy is distracted
Or:
2. Their Navy is sunk.
Otherwise they will ruin your supply efficiency and make you unable to invade Japan.
Once you get a foothold and you have enough supply, just rush your tanks through and defeat their armies.
If you get stuck on Straits, send some marines in or paradrop two provinces past the strait.
Hit the Supply button in the lower right corner. Then mouse-over the province you want to get detailed information on. It will tell you how much is used / total. Then you can gauge how many additional divisions you can send.
Whenever I have to fight Japan I just ignore China and head straight for the core, hit with a naval invasion (I tend to hit nagasaki from the philippines, not sure if you have that) and the japanese army is all in the Chinese front, making the core easy to take once a beachhead is secured
You have fully taken china so I'm not quite sure what you can do, maybe let them invade there so they are occupied
i think i will just stop guarding the chinese coast and let the ♥♥♥♥ invade for free
once they send their troops to china i will invade xD
and guys is there a way to send more convoys to a particular port so that if the enemy sinks some of my ships theres still going to be way more than enough convoys to supply my army? :P
and side note - i paradrop 40 divisions into japan and lost all :')
