Make sure your special forces are 7/2 so you can take mountains and stuff. MW is good if you have a lot of tanks/motorized, but you aren't exactly an industrial powerhouse.
So, spam inf divisions and let the Germans throw themselves at your wall.
Grand battleplan is often overlooked when it comes to land doctrines even thou it has some great defensive boni (=less lost manpower) and some good offensive boni too. Add to this the biggest possible planning bonus in game (and add to that bonus from your general and field marshall) and you can break thru pretty much anything.
I like to play Australia quiet often and for my money it is simple, Grand battleplan all day long, it is not even worth a debate as far as im concerned if only because you can max the thing out before war even starts with the technology sharing bonus you get from being in the commonwealth and schrewd use of land doctrine focuses. Nothing else preserves manpower like GBP does, to the extent that when properly entrenched your forces deal thousands of casualties to attackers while taking single digit or even zero losses at all.
Mobile warefare is what you pick if you are building loads of tanks, Australia is not gonna be building enough tanks to make this pay off for a long time. Mob War also has the worst infantry stats of all, so you'll be taking a hell of alot of pointless casualties in every battle they're used in. You also have to look ahead, you'll be fighting Japan in the Pacific, tanks do not do well in that part of the world because the terrain is god awful. Yeah this is for my money the worst of the lot ... Almost.
Superior firepower is similar to GBP, but you trade entrenchemnt and defense which keeps your men alive for more greater attack, which kills more of the enemy. It can be a genuinely 'difficult' choice what you want to go with, except that again, you can max GBP out before the war starts, you will be half way through Sup Fire. I honestly cannot stress just how powerfull that makes your land forces under GBP for more than half the war and indeed beyond that point as you can then ingore doctrine research to fast track future technologies.
And Lastly you have Mass Mobilisation, this throws manpower away like it's going out of fashion and is strictly reserved for nations with bottomless manpower pits, the doctrine is incredibly powerfull when you can get more units into the combat width but yeah, do not even consider this one as Australia.
