Watch some youtube videos and google specific questions, while playing your first game.

This game isnt nearly as complicated as it seems at first.

Pick a country that's easy to play with at the start too. Germany and USA are decent ways to start.

This is the most simple Paradox game to date tbh.

Go and watch gameplay of Crusader Kings 2 with all DLC's and expansions. Im adequate in Stellaris, and all HOIs from 2 to 4, but Crusader Kings 2 is WAY too complicated.

I honestly thought Stellaris was simpler. HoI throws everything at once at you, while Stellaris had a gradual progresion.

To be fair though, this game is decently basic compaired to the others, even Stellaris.

Nah, stellaris is much more complicated in its own sense.

Its much more "stable" in the way of how you start. in HOI4, youre either immensely powerful by picking a major faction, or immensely unbalanced. Much like in real.
You think this is complicated? Try out the supply and HQ systems in HOI 3

I'm pretty sure USA is one of the worst recommendations since we want to add him to the player base, not repel him by boring him

I suggest starting with a minor nation, that isnt at risk of getting invaded (like Canada for example). Why?:

Major nations have too many choices and things to look out for, which might be overwhelming for a new player. Minor nations can participate in the war without having to steer it, basically. You can set yourself some small goals and toy around.

With minor nations it is also more important to specialize your army. Hence, after playing Royal Canadian Armour, you will have leant the basics of armored warfare. Your next game could be all about defensive infantry divisions and special forces then, for example.

Zis. Also, it will take a while for you to get a grasp on everything (how long a while depends on your previous experience) but once you figure something out once, you realize it is actually very simple on its own (except naval combat, I have yet to figure that out). In a couple of hours you will be a competent player. Just don't give up for a preset amount of time, like 10 hours. If in 10 hours you don't like the game or feel too crowded by information (and after reading a beginner's guide), you can consider cutting your losses and moving on. If in those 10 hours you had fun however, you have found yourself a very beautiful game (with it's own set of warts and bugs, of course).
