Paradox Centered PC Build
My new PC build has slowly been every so more become very dependent on how parts I pick will go along with HOI4, and EU4, and i've been trying to maximise performance for the lowest cost, now I am increasingly aware that the CPU is much more important than the GPU in most matters involving PDX games, but now, I am at a bind for what CPU would be the best price/performance.

I am stuck between the i3's and the 8100, 8300, or i5 8400, or on the AMD side of things, the Ryzen 5 2600.

I am in rural Canada, therefore everything cheap is expensive, and the Ryzen 5 2600 is 255$ on average, with the 8400 also around that price range. And while the 8100 is 10% worse than the Ryzen, it is only 150$ on average in Canadian rubles. And the 8300 runs an average 180$, and is 6% or so worse than the Ryzen.

So, i'm in a bind, I have picked out a cheap AM4 mobo, due to me thinking Ryzen was the definite choice previously, but if I do switch to Intel, I don't believe it should be too hard to find a compatible motherboard for my already chosen components.

All help and insight will be considered greatly. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Well, that should run pretty ok I guess, perhaps one day extend the RAM with another 8 GB. Don't forget a hard disk or ssd though, it is currently not included.

I'm aware, I plan on taking the ones from my current PC.

You're inbetween the minimum and recommended specs. It's probably going to stutter and even freeze a lot in the late game.

Yes, that happens commonly in all my playthroughs.

The best thing to buy for Paradox ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up non multicore games is to get a CPU where a single core is really powerful, not an overall more powerful CPU with many weaker cores.
