Why is turkey so hard to beat?
Playing as Italy. Attacker (me) 61 divisions (tanks, mountaineers, normal soldiers, cavalry), Defender (Turkey) 16 divisions (normal soldiers, very little mountaineers and 1 cavalry). They are holding against me in very limited space ( I am in Bulgaria fighting in the small space connecting it with Turkey) I always start winning strong (85+) in 40+ days but they start retreating their troops (not completely they put back 1/2 of their divisions) a bit and before I defeat them they put them back and it goes back to 70 and they do this again and again and again and I cannot push. Also I have my army split into two armies so they have equipment and no attrition. Also I know I don't have HOI4 but I am not playing it on this acc. because it is too expensive for me right now, sorry.

Because it's a see crossing into a city with entrenched Units that sometimes has forts.
I think marines have a chance(?).
But you are better off naval invading oder paratrooping behind them.

There are many variables which can affect combat, terrain, equipment, organization, division templates, air superiority etc. Are you unable to cross the Bosporus strait? Straits give attacking divisions huge attack debuffs.

Kick the French and Brits out of the middle East and attack from the south.

No I am not actually attacking the strait, I am attacking the ground before the strait. I would possibly win easily if they didn't do the thing where they put 1/2 (or just some) divisions away and then when they reorganize put them back reseting the battle won estimation so they can hold out probably forever or until I attack from somewhere else which I can't do now (putting more units will give them attrition so thats out even though I have more divisions).

Do a naval invasion. You have to open up a second front to pull troops away from the strait. There's nothing wrong with their tactic; I do the same thing, and you would, too, in their situation. :)

When I attack Turkey as Greece I try to break them on one tile whilst keeping their units occupied on the rest so I surround them before they have the chance to retreat in Constantinople (Istanbul). If they managed to retreat to the city and brought enough divisions then you're in for a tough fight. Attacking cities also gives you a debuff.

Bring good tank divisions, those are your best chance at breaking them.

Ok thanks I will try but first I will somehow have to break their 2 regions thick front line. Maybe I will attack with a naval invasion from the back to split their forces and crush their front line. Also I am pretty sure they have most of their army on that from because if they wouldn't they have to retreat to oblivon before dying in a ditch.

Doesn't tanks get a huge debuff when you have tl cross the straight?

All units apart from marines do, but he's not fighting them through the strait yet, he's trying to get the city.

Yeah tanks would work there then.

When I fight turkey, I usualy drop paratroops on the other side of the straight and istanbul then just ram into thier army. You can easily destroy thier whole force this way then just walk over the rest of turkey.

The key is that straight, you want to take istanbul before you push thier regiments so that they are pocketed and cut off.

AI turkey does not start with support divisions researched and they usually wont have support divisions, instead they go heavy on arty. So make sure your divisions have appropriate support and arty and you will crush turkish divisions.

Honestly, paratroopers are REALLY cheap in this game. The typical tactic looks something like this -

1. Order the main assault to prevent thier defenders from moving.

2. Drop your paratroopers behind the line to create the beginings of a pocket.

3. When your paratroopers are down, have your tanks break the line at two or three points that are plains or hills to connect with your paradrops. (This doesnt really require tanks but it helps)

4. The enemy is now pocketed and you will crush him.

5. Hold on the defensive for a bit let him ram you while you reset

6. Rinse, repeat.
