country making?
eu4 has country making mechanic as well as empire creating for stellaris, so why not hoi4, now i made a post about this before and people said they whant the game to go like ww2 did in real life, but if they did why do you have the choice for france and japan to go communist, why does germany have the focus to oppose hitler, why does china have the option to conquer the warlords instead of the united front, so if you can alter history, why not alter countrys as well.

Alternate history is not the same thing as fake history or just plain not history.

Every country had supporters of each ideology in history. It’s not entirely unreasonable that France could have gone communist, or China win against japan. Or hitler being opposed and starting a civil war, although that one is a little out there. It’s very possible that world war 2 could have panned out very, VERY differently due to small or big things.

But adding whole new countries wouldn’t fit, it doesn’t make sense. France and Britain might have opposed the remilitarization of the Rhineland and taken military action in another reality. But some country isn’t going to randomly switch into a player made country, nor will one magically rise from the ocean. Not to mention it would completely screw up the game

but in eu4, its fine to make a country out of thin air in the ottoman empire, revolutionary france, etc etc you can add as many countrys as you whant to and the ai even with a lot more countries than hoi4 still work as good as they could without the new countrys.

ive never played eu4 so Im not to familiar with how it works. The thing is though hoi4 is more structured because of the focus system. Certain countries have certain focus trees, and belive it or not, its balanced. I fyou made your own country, you would never get declared war on because the ai almost always declares war through focuses. It would essentially throw a wrench into the balance created by paradox

Because it would become a complete fantasy world, even less coherent and manageable than now, instead of a WW2 strategy game?

Even now the game fails at producing reasonable outcomes from the player's choices. Adding made-up countries, with no relation to history or reality, the AI would probably go bonkers.

Do u even play hoi? Ur constantly complaining

sure why not? People who don't want it don't have to use it! More options = Better!

It's because EU4 is basically a sandbox while HoI4 is a WW2 game (maybe even a WW2 Sandbox now). HoI4 lets you change history (be ahistorical but at least vaguely plausible) while EU4 lets you do more or less anything you want. Same with CK2 and Stellaris, which are both more sandbox-y than HoI4. If you want a pure sandbox HoI4, get some mods.

What about you, why the whining?

How about HoI4? Do you play that? Or do you just post the same tired arguments on this forum over and over again in a vain attempt to validate your dislike of PDS?

He doesn't own HoI4. He admitted it a while back and has never stated otherwise (feel free to state otherwise). He's a Darkest Hour guy, which still generates money for Paradox on every sale (I assume, since they licensed it). Which reminds me that I still need to pick up Darkest Hour direct from Paradox so they can get maximum $. :)

As for the OP...sure, why not? Only if historical foci are turned off, of course. I don't think it should be high on the list of things to do, but if somebody bangs it out in their spare time, add it to the next DLC.

Problem is in current HOI4 custom nations won't be custom nations from EU4 or Stellaris. It would be GENERIC nation with generic focus tree, generic portraits, generic advisors. Because i don't see how it is possible to balance "Custom Nation Focus Tree Editor". And it 99,99% will break one of the major's focus trees.
