France Turning Communist while playing Monarchist Germany
So I started playing Waking the Tiger a couple of days ago. I immediately started playing as Germany and went down the Oppose Hitler line. I was relatively successful, winning the civil war by early to mid November 1936. However, while playing, I was expecting France to turn Communist rather quickly. However, by early 1940, they just stalled at 38% support. After that, they just did as they always do when playing as Fascist Germany and joined the Allies, while I was dragged into a war with the Soviet Union over Latvia.
After this, I was wondering what went wrong and what specifications there are for France becoming Communist. Is it based on RNG and, if so, can I just start from a certain save point and hope they turn Communist or do I have to start a completely new game? Or is it based on which path you choose to follow? For example, if I choose Expatriate the Communists over Focus on the True Enemy (in my game, I did the latter), will that make Communism in France increase or have a higher chance of France turning Communist? However, this shouldn't be the case, as when Daniel played the game for Paradox, France did as intended and went Communist (unless they made a change I don't know about).
Any input you have on this subject is greatly appreciated.

well it all depends, if you stay fascist they'll usually try and stay democratic.
if you go democratic then they'll be more likely to go fascist.
if you go monarchist and try to join the allies they'll go communist.
if you try and if you go the 4th route what they'll do is usually random between communist and democratic.

So it is somewhat based on what focus you do.

Democratic Germany = Soviets influence France (Communist France)
Fascist Germany = Democratic France
Non-Aligned Germany = Democratic France

yes at least on historical focus France will actually wait patiently until you commit to one political path before choosing either "support status quo" or "revise versailes" in their own politics tree.

Yeah, expatriate the Communists gives them communism support and makes them likely to take Go Left for more communism support. Depending on when you do it, they'll either have a civil war that may or may not succeed or flip in the 1940 election depending on how many ticks of communism they get.

After that, they have the option to either start their own Communist faction, which I've never seen them pick yet, or join Comintern.
