Help with monarchist Germany

I am having trouble figuring out how to play them, poland existing is a problem in itself.
Also, should the civil war be started asap?

Before I start the civil war I justify on Poland and take them over. If you take the "Danzig for guarantees" focus later on you get cores on both Danzig and Poznan.

Also if you take Poland before the civil war you get to keep all of the Polish land so the AI will send many of their divisions over there and make your job of beating back the Nazis easier.

Have you had issues with austria hungary? I recently reformed them but they stayed in pact of rome, and didnt switch into my central powers faction. Also is how does their vote to unify with germany work? Is it random, or do they need to not be in a war?

In my game I started increasing the unaligned support in Czechoslovakia and Austria ( I had puppeted and annexed Hungary and Romania through the focus tree) but nothing happened, maybe because I had annexed Hungary maybe not. Czechoslovakia remained democratic despite unaligned support in their country being over 75% and they joined the Allies.

did you actually do the focus to have them form austria hungary?
