Breaking the Tiger? DLC made China juicy and ripe for Japan
China is now just loot for ♥♥♥ hoarders. Big, fat and poorly defended, at least AI vs AI. I played 3 games and in all 3 china united before 1939 and in 2 of them disappeared before 1939. Japan is just too big to contest now, huge manpower, too many resources and factories, but at least its not in the axis anymore so i dont have to chase it down to end a war (which is stupid to begin with)

Has anyone played a full china game so far? Is it better than before?

Also heres some border gore (again, stupid as hell) and the japanese sphere of influence: https://imgur.com/a/o7lZB

"Breaking the Tiger" dooode S+ ;p
And yeah the Tiger is veeeeeery lazy in waking and seems to never actually wake up completely, just kinda fumbles around...
While Japan not only got the divine biker divisions ;p but honestly start out even stronger vs an EVEN WEAKER China. Apparently Waking the Tiger is not the buff here, it's the challange ;p

Well as far as ai goes china is the fat rich nerdy kid with no friends except himself. I mean, sure, japan is a world power kinda, but china is a behemoth with lots of land and manpower, losing divisions and ground should make them focus on building more and raising armies, instead they go from half ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to limp.

Communist china is great, even has defensive bonuses, but it has these modifiers that wreck it early game, -25% factory output, -50% construction speed, -7% stability and war support, 25% increased PP costs, but the tree is more than decent and replaces these soon enough with some great bonuses, so what i concluded is that the AI is retarded. Same as germany always picking rhineland focus and sometimes refusing czech split offer from romania which means you gotta savescum for this weird RNG.

Or as someone in reddit posted, France joining axis in 1939 with 80% fascist support, going into civil war with Vichy France (fascist) and thus leaving axis, Germany joining the war AGAINST Vichy France, winning, then democratic France joining the axis in 1940.

Or Legionnaires Bulgaria conquering and annexing japan as allies.

This.

1,000x this.

I was looking for such a thread, because I was about to start my own and figured someone must have already mentioned this.

CPU Japan now just absolutely rips CPU China apart, usually in about 1.5 years-ish. And this is pretty much a constant, not a one-off occurence. Even if I send 6-7 armored volunteers as the Soviets, China just implodes. In the past, this would sometimes happen and sometimes not, usually depending on how Japanese naval invasions went (CPU naval invasions still can result in large losses to the invader, as they don't always target ports and end up encircled/unsupplied in such cases). But now, regardless of anything whatsoever, Japan just bashes China down. And this results in less time to farm my volunteer's experience (which seems more vital than ever... generals now seem to level up much more slowly than in the past, even with a full 24-division army).

I think the issue now is two-fold, to be honest:

Japan gets to be a bit stronger than it was, AND

China doesn't 'annex' the other Chinese factions when it forms the United Front. The old United Front gave China a few extra factories and helped to slow down it's catastrophically deteriorating equipment situation. And in the meantime, some of those other Chinese factions don't really do much but stay near their own border now that they don't automatically become part of the rest of China proper.

Ultimately, what used to be a situation where China sometimes held out for many years (or even pushed Japan out of Korea!) is now a situation where China has roughly a year-and-a-half, sometimes less, and Japan becomes a more significant threat to whoever they target next.

I must reply to you Aluminum Master, since i did witness something that i considered impossible.

Japan lost the war versus China for the first time in 4 campaigns. It invaded mainland china while also advancing from the northern puppet state (forgot the name) as it always does. It lost the war, Korea is now a free and independent democratic state, japan is still fascist, china annexed all of japans puppets (except korea ofc) and used all of that to conquer communist china as soon as the war with japan was over. Now its one of the most powerful factions in the continent and still going up.

My Romania campaign details below if anyone's interested and wishes to give me some tips or ask some questions.

Currently being slowly raped by Italy in SE (my former ally Yugoslavia's lands) Germany in NW (my former ally Poland's lands) Hungary in W (the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ always demand transylvania if you let them get rearmed, they do it later too if you dont let them get guns back) and soon the Soviets in E-NE because as i was retreating from Poland my armies got overrun when they capitulated (retarded af) and there was a pocket left in russian territory after the German-Russian split of Poland. Russia went to war for that pocket, dragged Yugoslavia into it. Legionnaires Bulgaria went to war with me in the S and i conquered a bit of land South of the Danube and since Yugoslavia had a claim on it since before the war it was marked as their liberated turf, which ofc Russia navally invaded and swept it from under my feet, making some of my divisions vanish and get overrun. Will have to go to war with them aswell just so i can liberate/conquer everything in the Balkans. If i still have manpower that is.
