- No, though obviously if the unit had any levels of experience, that experience will be lost, and you won't be able to deploy the retrained unit outside of your core territory.
- In a way, yes, though it will take some time for the equipment to reach the underequipped unit.
- Not really, unless you want to stagger their deployments across multiple states or dates. If you train a group of 50, they have to be deployed in the same state, and if they're at 100% training, they'll all deploy together when you select a state to deploy them in.
- That depends on the country you're playing as. For the US, it's probably a good idea if you're playing historically, as their starting templates are garbage and you'll have plenty of time to retrain and redeploy new troops. For Japan, not so much because you'll have to send your retrained troops all over the place, and a lot of your divisions out on the islands are pretty crap because they're just garrisons, and you'll need the manpower and equipment to have your "real" divisions take on China if that's the path you're going down.
- Because of the special forces cap, if you need the slots for another type of special forces unit you could always disband them, though if they're veteran units this might not be a good idea. You can always deploy special forces on a frontline to help break through the enemy lines if necessary.
- It all depends on what your preferred method of supremacy is. If you have a weak navy, marines aren't very useful since you won't be doing naval invasions, but if you have a weak airforce, paratroopers are similarly useless as you won't be able to perform any drops with them. Your special forces units should be suited to your country's strengths, and your own playstyle. If you're going to focus on naval supremacy, get marines. If you're going to focus on ruling the skies, get paratroopers. If your country can't do either, you'll have to choose between marines and mountaineers, depending on the terrain. Marines are good in wet climates, shorelines, and for breaking through poorly-defended lines, as their "Breakthrough" stat is higher than that of standard infantry. They have lower hitpoints than standard infantry, though, so you have to bring them in with overwhelming force if you don't want to take heavy losses. Mountaineers are best in hills and mountains, obviously.
