disbanding units question
1.when i disband a unit, does 100 percent of the equipment and manpower return to my pools?
2.is there thus any penalty for disbanding a uinit then imedeately retrainining it?
3. can i "merge" two units that are only at half supply by disbanding one and then letting the other take the equipment(assuming i am low on equipment)?
4. is there any reason that i would train devision fifty times rather then just training fifty devisions once?
5.should i disband all of my starting troops and replace them with a good devision design?
6. what should i do with paratroopers/marines when not using them?
7. is there any reason to use both paratroopers and marines? it seems that it is only viable to drop paratroopers near the water so that they can get supplys from a dock

Caps are not yelling. Just to make it easier to see. :)

YES, ASSUMING THE UNIT IS NOT SURROUNDED BY ENEMY. THE DISBAND BUTTON WILL TELL YOU IF ALL THE EQUIPMENT/MANPOWER IS RETURNED
2.is there thus any penalty for disbanding a uinit then imedeately retrainining it?
JUST TIME LOST RETRAINING IT

I GUESS SO. EQUIPMENT IN STORAGE WOULD GET DISTRIBUTED TO UNITS IN THE FIELD. YOU CAN PRIORITIZE EQUIPMENT IN THE RECRUITING SCREEN. I PRIORITIZE REINFORCEMENTS OVER UPGRADES AND TRAINING.
4. is there any reason that i would train devision fifty times rather then just training fifty devisions once?
YES. 50 DIVISIONS ONE A TIME WILL TAKE A VERY LONG TIME. 50 DIVISIONS AT ONCE WILL CAUSE ALL OF THEM TO DEPLOY AT THE SAME TIME IN A SHORTER TIMEFRAME, ASSUMING ADEQUATE EQUIPMENT.
5.should i disband all of my starting troops and replace them with a good devision design?
NO, YOU CAN CHANGE YOUR STARTING DIVISIONS TO DIFFERENT DIVISION TEMPLATES ON THE FLY. SELECT THE DIVISION, AND IN THE UPPER LEFT CORNER THERE IS A TINY BUTTON WITH CROSSING GREEN ARROWS. CLICK THAT BUTTON TO CHANGE AN INFANTRY DIVISION INTO A TANK DIVISION. YOU CAN CHANGE MULTIPLE DIVISIONS AT ONCE. EXPERIENCE IS LOST IN THIS PROCEDURE, BUT YOU CAN JUST RETRAIN.
6. what should i do with paratroopers/marines when not using them?
YOU CAN PUT THEM IN TRAINING TO ACRUE ARMY POINTS IF YOU HAVE EXCESS EQUIPMENT. IF YOU ARE DONE WITH THEM, YOU CAN CONVERT THEM TO DIFFERENT DIVISION TEMPLATES. THEY CAN GUARD PORTS. OR THEY CAN JUST SIT IN THE BACK UNTIL NEEDED, IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL.
7. is there any reason to use both paratroopers and marines? it seems that it is only viable to drop paratroopers near the water so that they can get supplys from a dock
THERE ARE SOME GENERALS AND SPECIAL ABILITIES THAT NEGATE THE SUPPLY NEGATIVES FOR A SHORT TIME. YOU CAN DROP THE PARATROOPERS BEHIND THE PORT AND HAVE THEM SURROUND THE PORT. IN THIS WAY THE PORT CAN BE ATTACKED FROM ALL SIDES CAUSING THEM TO LOSE MUCH FASTER. IT ALSO NEGATES ANY FORTS THEY MIGHT HAVE. THIS CAN BE RISKY IF THE ENEMY IS ABLE TO FORTIFY OR HAS TROOPS ATTACKING YOUR TRAPPED PARATROOPERS.

1 - As long as the unit isn't in combat or surrounded by enemies, yes.

2 - No, though obviously if the unit had any levels of experience, that experience will be lost, and you won't be able to deploy the retrained unit outside of your core territory.

3 - In a way, yes, though it will take some time for the equipment to reach the underequipped unit.

4 - Not really, unless you want to stagger their deployments across multiple states or dates. If you train a group of 50, they have to be deployed in the same state, and if they're at 100% training, they'll all deploy together when you select a state to deploy them in.

5 - That depends on the country you're playing as. For the US, it's probably a good idea if you're playing historically, as their starting templates are garbage and you'll have plenty of time to retrain and redeploy new troops. For Japan, not so much because you'll have to send your retrained troops all over the place, and a lot of your divisions out on the islands are pretty crap because they're just garrisons, and you'll need the manpower and equipment to have your "real" divisions take on China if that's the path you're going down.

6 - Because of the special forces cap, if you need the slots for another type of special forces unit you could always disband them, though if they're veteran units this might not be a good idea. You can always deploy special forces on a frontline to help break through the enemy lines if necessary.

7 - It all depends on what your preferred method of supremacy is. If you have a weak navy, marines aren't very useful since you won't be doing naval invasions, but if you have a weak airforce, paratroopers are similarly useless as you won't be able to perform any drops with them. Your special forces units should be suited to your country's strengths, and your own playstyle. If you're going to focus on naval supremacy, get marines. If you're going to focus on ruling the skies, get paratroopers. If your country can't do either, you'll have to choose between marines and mountaineers, depending on the terrain. Marines are good in wet climates, shorelines, and for breaking through poorly-defended lines, as their "Breakthrough" stat is higher than that of standard infantry. They have lower hitpoints than standard infantry, though, so you have to bring them in with overwhelming force if you don't want to take heavy losses. Mountaineers are best in hills and mountains, obviously.
