Generals getting killed.
They can already get wounded, so maybe a small chance of them being killed? The devs would have to add more generals to the game in that case though.

Devs said they won't do that because it brings up too many problems.

The wounded thing is just a lot of spam messages and serves no purpose

You know you cant use special orders while he is wounded And his XP gain is cut in half for 90 days right ?????

I would say this should happen if say an entire army group gets encircled and killed, thus the general would die along with them

No prisoners?
How did the 6th Army dude end up at Stalingrad btw? Was he part of the lucky few thousands returning home 20 years later?

Pdox don't want to delve into the PoW aspect of the war, there's too much of it that was very unsavory.

But a surrender division / army mechanic could be worth exploring.

Lose a division to war and take a war support hit, and potentially lose the general commanding them for good along with most of the manpower.

or

Surrender them to take less of a hit, and potentially get that manpower back later but at the expensive of giving the enemy more of your equipment and a propaganda boost to their war support, even more of a boost if they capture a general whom they can parade around.

With that you could also spend PP on a secret operation / escape attempt from prision, which'd give you a % chance to get that general back as well as a war support boost again from the propaganda on their return.

But Rommel nearly died on several occasions, bearing out the point that generals were vulnerable. In fact, quite a few German generals and field marshalls in game did not survive the war.

There was also a couple genocides but you don't see them in game either. this game wasn't ment to cover everything about the period. It was more about the planning and eventual warfare of ww2 things like the gulags and pow camps as well as genocides wern't added because it wasn't the type of gameplay they were going for

From a gameplay standard, though, it's a really severe RNG-based punishment the player can't really do anything about, and that's really anti-fun.

I mean, aces dying is okay. They're presented as a cool little bonus to help out your most important air squadrons, and you know you could lose them at any time. But a general you might have invested a huge ammount in and who might be really important (especially in multiplayer where every advantage is needed) suddenly popping off because he rolled a natural 1 seems.. frustrating. It's not a logical consequence of you the player making a mistake, it's just bad luck.

We are already forced to pay massive amounts of pp to buy just like 5 or so generals, no thanks i dont want to be curbstomped by the AI traits, especially really good traits like what japan has
