-of course build an army of mostly 20 width divisions(7 inf 2 arti)
-do not waste resources on what you do not need(such as a navy) because the US can destroy it
-train your division until the level trained(gives an 15% bonus in combat)
-choose your focus tree very carefully(personally for countries without big industries i tend to go for fire superiority)
-and a big advice is DO NOT REPLACE ITEMS WITH FULL EFFICIENCY(such as inf equipment) as your country wont be able to sustain a long fight
-also make sure to declare war on them as early as possible as they may join the allies
i believe that is all you need to know before picking a fight with the US
You have to deal with them quickly as the longer the war goes they can start removing their debuffs with manpower and industry.
In my expierence they will join the Allies but the British and Canadians wont be able to do to much.
The US starts with 36 units spread out over their territory, 22 of them on the mainland. A bit more than 5...
Getting trained level increases combat stats by 25% not 15%
Not upgrading to new equipment is perhaps the worst advice I have ever seen. If you are losing equipment at a rate where you can barely keep up with it you are pushing too hard too fast. Dig in and let them exhaust themselves instead of pushing into fortified mountains.
As Mexico you can get the highest level infantry equipment shortly after the war starts. The US won't be able to get that which gives you an insane advantage.
Personally I would go in a different direction. You can advance as far as Colombia southwards before the US finishes Pax Americana. They cannot enforce a guarantee on an american DoW without that focus and the Allies don't give a toss about the Americas so you can conquer at your hearts content.
The added industrial base you can get from the conquests means you will be able to fight the US on a relatively equal footing. You will be able to afford a garrison force for your ports along with the frontline troops needed to grind the US troops down.
