Help with installing mods

What file should I extract my mods to? Do I need to create a mod folder in my Hoi4 Folder File?

Help because I install the mods and when I extract them they do not show up to be playable when I open Hoi4.

It says that there are no mods installed.

Are you trying to install to the HOI4 folder in Steam or in Documents?

Buy the game first, then use Steam's workshop.

you have to place the mod into C:\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV\mod
the mod you place should have 2 files the "name of the mod".mod file and a folder with the same name.

you probably forgot to change the .mod file since they are broken if you download them from websites like steamworkshop.download
to fix this open the .mod file with a texteditor and replace archive="name of the mod.zip" with path="mod/name of the mod/"
or alternativly just take the .mod file out of the zip and just place the zip file in the Hearts of Iron IV mod folder.

Actually that he is asking for where to extract stuff more points to that conclusion.

Since if he has the game, then there is no need of extracting anything, because it's all handled by the game and Steam workshop.

Solved lol, didn't have enough disk space, I have BF1 installed, guess that's 90gig of free space... O_O

I have the game but some mods require DLC´s i cant buy right now. when i can i buy ´em but thats not a solution right now, so for now i use the "alternative". i know this is probably too late anyways but still, im kinda sick of seeing "just buy the game lmao". and before anyone else says anything, my country has heavy taxes on foreign purchases and a limit to them in dollars so it really is impossible sometimes.
