Historical Munich Conference
I'm no great player but I know enough to at least think that the A.I. denying the Sudetenland 3/3 times is strange. Any advice, this last time I had 1.2 million in the field but they still denied, I'd rather not go to war in 1938 if possible.

If you're on a-historical then the AI doesn't necessarily follow history. If you're on historical they should always accept sudetenland, I think.

If they like you they tend to accept demands more often than not, when you take the focus start improving relations with them to raise their opinion of you as much as possible and they should accept (they can still say no, it's just less likely is my experience)

The Historical AI option only affects what national focuses the ai chooses, nothing else decisions included is affected.

I improved relations about halfway through the focus if I remember correctly and they still said no but by then they already had -100 opinion of me. I did take out Poland and Belgium through generic war goals in 37. I forgot that that would probably affect it.

When the AI denies sudetenland it means the world tension is much too high

Is there an optimal world tension for this? Under 50 maybe?

Thx, the Spanish Civil War happened a bit late as well.

I just checked the event file. Generally, surrendering Sudetenland is more likely to happen. There are some other conditions modifying the possibility though. If you play in Historical Focus mode, much more likely Sudetenland will be surrendered by AI. So Historical Focus option does not just affect AI priority of national focus. Germany is weak with no other allies, Cezhslovakia is in a faction, Austria is not taken yet, these can all increase Cezhslovakia's chance to refuse. I did not see any condition of tension limit or relation.

Long Story short, this is why they refuse.

I have never seen the Munich Conference fail when Germany has played it by the book, I have seen it fail plenty of times when Germany has been to war already.

Yeah I just replayed it without taking over Belgium and Poland first and they let me have it and the entire country. Thx for the update though

If you are in a SP game, you could justify against Belgium ASAP, and rush the focuses to get Austria, and Czechoslovakia, researching a 35 day naval focuses to allow World tension to go down abit, then demand Slovenia, before declaring war at the same time. (or Slovenia then Czechoslovakia) Keep world tension under 25, you justify your war goal early on and take the rhineland so more tension goes down overtime. Also drain your PP points to be at 0 and have your gain be -0.50 so diplomatic actions cant progress, that way you dont have to worry about finishing your justification early and having it expire before you can finish.
