It's not laziness. Darkest Hour was essentially an overhaul mod made by people who wanted a more in depth game. I don't think Paradox had anything to do with it, aside from licensing the HoI2 engine. If Darkest Hour had sold well, we would be seeing DH2, or at least elements of it.
I personally found DH entertaining for 1 or 2 attempts, then just boring (same with HoI2). There are definitely things I liked about it (mostly things from HoI2 like the research firms), but Paradox isn't going for that kind of depth. Look at how many people complain about the learning curve of 4.
You must like it. You keep playing it.
im not wanting to bash paradox . but honestly they have went down a road with stellaris and hoi4 thats casual friendly and i woud have prefered it to have been in more in depth .but thats just me im pretty sure alot of people prefer the game to be strategy light but as a wargame in the traditional sense hoi4 is kinda a fail
I don't expect much improvement given it's been three years. We'll probably get one more lame DLC and that will be the end of it.
