As for it making sense, field hospitals would be regular medical equiptment and while I am not 100% sure, I think there were special desinged artillery pieces (AT, AA, regular arty) for paradropping. And with glider planes even specialy desinged light tanks and trucks could be transported.
So yes, you do want to use support companies on Para's
But there is a catch.
- Support Companies eat supply.
- Support Companies lower the Organisation regain rate of divisions they are attached too.
Considering Paratroopers drop with zero org and are out of supply straight away ... you really do want to pick carefully what to add or else you just piss manpower down the drain.
The less supply they eat and the quicker their org regain, the longer you have to be able to breakthrough and reach them before they fold.
