do the devs know what degaussing ships does?

now i ask this bc of canada's focus "degauss ship hills: gains national spirit geauss ship hulls which grands (light hull: sub detection: +10%, crusier sub decection +10%)"

now as far as i have ever read degaussing a ship does not improve its ability to sub hunt however it does improve its ability to not be sunk by magnetic mines
