Purchased but cant download the game?
-Hi, I purchased the game directly from Paradox website, they didnt offer me a link to download it but offer me a "Steam activation code"....
1-I can not see anywhere on steam where I can download the game I just purchased.
2- I already link my paradox account to steam
3-I tried to activate it multiple times.... nothing.... Now it says too many time try later... (without a timeline on how long is later)

**** Buying video games online always been a nightmare because of Steam/GamerGates/whatever 3rd party organisation involve..... ****

Why they all go with these annoying 3rd party things?

Just want to play single player game that I purchased online like the good old days.... Not 3-7 hours of reading through websites to try figuring out the problem, and then wait 48 hours, and another 48 hours and another one before each freaking reply/try this/try that/ etc.....

For example, I bought in August from Steam expansions to the game Total War: Attila ...

Once again, one of the expansion just not incorporate in the game, since the price was so low I didnt give a ♥♥♥♥ because I didnt have time to deal with hours of trying to figure it out but it is pissing me off.

*** Does anyone know if I were to by HOI4 in a regular store tomorrow, (ON CD), do I need to include it with steam or I can just download latest available patch and play at home? ***

If the second option not possible, that is it, will ask reimbursement and never play video games again. Wish it was as simple as back in the days without these annoying 3rd party organisation that waste it all for all of us.

First copy your activation code.

Then click at the 'ADD A GAME' in the lower left corner of the Steam window and select 'Activate a Product on Steam'.

And finally follow the instructions there.

This part makes me wonder, did you buy the game or did you buy an expansion and where are you trying to do these activations?

Also could I bother you to post a link to the product page of the thing you bought?

I have done that.... The thing stopped midway.... So then i retired, and retired... same thing.
Then it said to may tries, wait later....(it would not let me try again)

*** As I typed that I re tried to give you the exact message.... but finally activation successful!!! ***

hopefully it will work and wont be difficult to install the latest patch.... (do we install latest patch from paradox manually or from steam?)

Wont get to play tonight, but at least maybe problem solve!!! I guess 5 hours of frustration/reading/trying out things is better then 7 hours + waiting for support reply etc.... Still hoping that one day it goes back to whoever company create a game, they sell it on their own, no need 3rd party problems like that almost everytime.

Do you guys experience the same with most of your games?
(i.e: You know i advance that buying that game online will more than likely require 3+ hours of headache f you are lucky, `5+ hours plus waiting for support ticket on average, or refound at worse?)

Thanks guys it finally worked, what I think it was:
- I purchased game directly from Paradox (not knowing that we needed to play this game on steam)
- I believe that maybe there was a delay between Paradox and Steam for Steam to be aware of that newly purchased activation code??? i.e I just purchased the game, Paradox need to send the CD activation # to steam, so when I tried that activation # on steam, steam was not aware yet of that registration number, giving me that stop in the middle then too many tries error? Do you think that is possible?

Patch installed directly with steam also everything good tks guys!!!

I think the problem would not have occurred if game would have bee purchased directly from steam? Maybe not but oh well, works now.

It was good to vent though, miss soo much the good old days, where buying a game online meant: 1:You purchased 2:You click on the download button (usually worked when no 3rd party was involve) 3:Enter activation key (usually work right away when no 3rd party involve)

Just been unlucky overall ....

Been good overall when buying directly from Seam I must admit (except one of the Attila expension but price was so low I dont feel like going through support)

Well you got it sorted out. Anyway, If you had any problem with a product, i advise you to contact the customer service of the respective product (in this case Paradox Entertainment and Valve). Sometimes the community doesnt know what is the solution(i never bought a game outside steam, so i don't know why that's happened)

Welcome to HOI4 family, if you need a friend for MP just add me.

Have fun watching your soldiers standing still while the AI stupidly charge to you and racked up milions of casualties :P

Used to play really addiction on HOI2, (extremely micro managing) played sooo many games soo many hours (slow speed would takes 6-8 hours to go through ~6 months when invading Russia).

Tried HOI3 ad didnt understand the new General?Field Marshall tree so I gave up on it.

Been watching some tutorial online for HOI4, this is why I decided to buy it and try it out.
Now just came back because I totally realize I need to understand more the "Civilian factory and production overall" before starting a game so going to watch that...

Also the airforce side of thing tutorials.... (did watch lots already on gameplan / generals / etc... because I thought it would only be the one giving me headaches having played lots HOI2)

Tks for your help again.

this game is much simplified and easier than the predecessors, do 5 speed when you are in peace and 3 if you are at war or just do 5 all the way :D the airforce management is easy imo, usually i made 200 plane for each airwing, then you can assigned that airwing to an air region, it will be much easier with the next patch/dlc because you can just assigned it to a FM or Gen and it will automically reshuffle between AR and Airport as your ground unit move.
