Ive been thinking about picking up HOI4, probably going to wait until the Christmas sale if I do. Anyway, just curious if the Great War mod is worth a purchase of the actual game? Been craving a WWI game and its kinda slim pickings out there.

Oh good call on Darkest Hour, I had forgotten about that one, much appreciated!!

Yeah the price tag really has me hesitant to pull the trigger on 4, especially with how many different DLCs seem to come out with their games.

I love what you guys have been doing with your Mod, it gets better with every update. Though with what the new National Focuses offer (Like the Beer Hall Putsch for example) their should be no assumption that the Central Powers shall fail. I know whenever I play as Germany and control most of France and European European Russia, No member in the Central Powers can make peace with the whole Entente. So, say that the Thrones of Germany & Austria-Hungary don't fall. That means that while the option of the Putsch is possible, it probably would not be probable. So there should be other prerequisites in place like, for example the 'German Empire doesn't exist' or 'Ideology is Democratic'. The reason I say this is because these new National Focuses disregard what might have happened and readily assume what actually happended.

Darkest Hour, a HOI2 game, has a WWI campaign. Not great, WWII campaigns are better, but still nice for WWI enthusiasts (I'm one also).

Darkest Hour has tons of events and leaders, and a fairly decent AI. You can buy it for ~1£.
It certainly beats paying 40-80£ for a cutesy, dumbed down, bugged, AI-retarded HOI4 riddled with pointless, expensive, cash-grabbing DLCs that should be included in the base game.

AI has been improved a lot.
