Historical Focus On or Off; Is There Really Any Difference?
So i have a quick question to people who have played with both non-historical and historical focus...

Does anything different really happen that is significant? When i've tried both it didn't seem like anything overly significant happenes but maybe I should try it from 1936 instead of '39.

On the 39 start everything is pretty much set in stone, if you start in 36 things can happen like France going communist, Japan, Italy and Poland getting their own faction etc.

However, in the standard game things will go rather similiar. If you want really crazy things happening, try out the mod "Road to 56".

okay so i looked at it and seems pretty cool.

I use some other mods combined together to make alternate history like random ideologies and all nations liberated

Does this mod creat enough alternate history that those can be disabled or no?
I guess what I'm asking is how much does the Road to 56 mod change the history?

The main thing Road to 56 mod does is
- add some extra things to do with political power. (there a few more ''minister'' type stuff to get)
- Add extra stuff to research.
- Add alot of focus trees (made by others in the workshop). Alot of nations gain a focus tree with this mod and in general most of those focus trees have their option to go communist, facist, democratic, some even non-alinged.
Also plenty more factions. I regulary see the Scandiavian countries team up and the middle eastern.

Okay thanks! I think i'll try this mod without the random ideologies and liberated nations mod and see if I like it that way

Would you say that things are usually different everytime?

In general most games end up with the Axis vs Allies and Commitern.
Sometimes even Axis vs Allies vs Comitern in a Free-for-all.

But there are plenty of things going diffrent.
I have seen the Italians make their own factions and Germany returning to a monarchy.
But since Germanys focus tree just has all the ''declare war on faction X'' focus trees the Axis vs everybody is just bound to happen.
Also a few more civel wars in otherwise boring places.

If you want some more randomnes Road to 56 with non-historical AI is definitly worth checking out.

For more random stuff check out this mod.

This makes the AI litterly choose random national focuses.
Normaly non-historical AI tries to pick sensible things (with a bit of randomnes). This mod makes it completly random (i have seen Germany only picking their ''befriend country X focus trees and Japan ignoring war with China till 1944)

Problem is that Bad AI and road to 56 dont work together, but you might want to check them both out (but not together)
