But it sounds to me you are not producing enough to supply all your forces so if you got rid of your old stock your units would fall in strenght since they'd not have any equipment. It is better to have a pop gun than no gun at all!
IT IS NOT "OUTDATED" EQUIPMENT THAT IS A PROBLEM.
IT IS NOT HAVING TOO LITTLE EQUIPMENT TO HANDLE THINGS.
IT IS THE FACT THAT "CAPTURED" EQUIPMENT CANNOT BE LEND LEASED AWAY AND CONSTANTLY FILL THE UI WHEN TRYING TO MAKE NEW AIR WINGS.
There. Just read for once, people.
Now, for the OP, Paradox has posted on their official forums that they have heard of this problem and are considering a "delete" button. In the mean time, there's no way around it. You could choose to build heavy fighters and TAC instead of normal fighters and CAS, so that you can dump all captured equipment into huge wings in the middle of nowhere to clean your stockpile. Also of note is that you can build a wing of crappy captured planes and the game will automatically replace them with your modern versions as soon as deployment is complete.
You end up with random fighters/cas/bombers from UK, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Belgium, Nederlands. France, Greece and sometimes many more.
It already takes a while to click 100 planes and put them in an airwing. When you have to scroll through all those captured assets it really gets annoying.
How can paradox fix this? Allow you to scrap equipment and have a production surplus for half of the materials that went into making it. In addition maybe give a 25% boost to the production for each unit destroyed. As an example you destroy 100 captured 1936 planes; you can scrap them and have a 25% bonus on the production of 100 1936 planes or 50 of the 1940 plane.
Alternatively let the player try to reverse engineer something if he doesn't have a tech. Say you steal some 1940 strategic bombers. Maybe you can try to get % toward the research after you destroy many of those units.
Then you can scrap them for a production bonus.
Because reading past the title is too hard and takes up too much time.
