Britain and France guaranteeing
Whenever I play country anywhere in the world the game always follows the same pattern. I declare early war because im usually tiny I win the war no problems. But the second I try to take over my second country Britain or France gaurantees the buggars. Any suggestion on how to get around this other than using console commands

Basically once you take over a country your tension level is so high they'll guarantee anyone in most of Europe you declare on. I found a solution but it's freaking hard as hell to pull off.

I was playing as Romania and declared war on Hungary/Yugoslavia/Bulgaria all at once all on the same date. No them joining the allies, no guarantees. However you need to be able to win those fights all at once.

Having valid reasons for invading (claims on land for example) changes the chance of them guaranteeing people after the first war. Also they are unlikely to guarantee Fascist or Communist countries. Democratic/independant countries seem to be fair game for guaranteeing.

I had this problem to. I was playing as Facist Turkey (Neo-ottomans) And I took and annexed Iraq. After this I justified on Iran. France being a jerk guerenties them. So I waited to world war 2. Well now I took the Suez and Persia. While boring it gives you time to prepare.

Don't judge my spelling.

They will start guaranteeing when world tension is over 25%, so start justifying your wars before it hits 25%, perhaps declare war on several countries at once.

Quagmire is absolutely right. 25% is the magic number. But there are a couple of tricks you can take advantage of.

First, you can usually attack other Fascist countries; apparently the English and French AI will not guarantee the independence of Fascist countries. Same thing with Communist. However, other Communist countries may challenge you if you attack one of their own.

Another, important trick you can pull in early 1936 is to keep World Tension just below 25% by freeing up or puppetting part of the country you attacked. When you are sitting at the peace conference, watch how the World Tension index goes up or down as you grab additional provinces or as you free up or puppet part of the country you just defeated. If you play it right you can bring the World index very close but just under 25% and then move on to attack a second country.

Third trick is to attack several countries at once. If world tension is at 24% and you attack one, two or three countries at once, you will be fine... because World Tension was under 24% at the moment you declared war against all these countries.

Lastly, you must finish your conquest before World Tension reaches 80%. See here: http://www.hoi4wiki.com/World_tension (A democracy can join a faction when World Tension reaches 80%.) Say for example you attacked Negherlands, Belgium and France all at once, then defeated the Netherlands and Belgium and grabbed all their territories bringing World Tension over 80%, now France can join the allies and you are screwed. But if you only take the bare essentials from Belgium and the Nehterlands, you can keep World Tension under 80% and go on to defeating France before France joins the allies.

I just tried the above, playing as Germany, we took over the home provinces of Holland and Belgium and then grabbed all of the French empire by 2 Dic 1936 without triggering war with England. Of course, World Tension shot past 100% once I grabbed the whole of the French empire. But then proceeded to take over Fascist Hungary while my volunteers made sure Franco won the Spanish Civil war... and then we also took over Fascist Spain. By November 1937 I have 278 factories plus a ton of rubber and other resources from the former French dominions, and, we are at peace.

...any advise on what to do next? :steamhappy:

Prepare paratroopers, send troops to India (you have a state and laos), send some troops to africa to deal with SA and some troops to your border with Australia. Declare war on Poland, win war declare on Soviets or US.

Of course you could take Italy before all that, as I always do, when I play Germany like this.

One other thing to note in addition to Epi's post above. Guaranteeing a country lowers world tension, and costs political power.

So, to take advantage of this, justify on a country you have no intention of invading at that time, GB and France lower world tension and burn PP to guarantee. Used when world tension has just eked over 25%, it will let you then justify against your real target without interference.

Great ideas... Delta and Zuul.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you can organize a coup or influence elections to make a country Fascist (and then attack the new-Fascist country). So far I have not been succesful with these options. Any ideas here? What do you need to make Rumania Fascist?

Thanks a lot everyone for your ideas i tried making people facist/communist but they just end up joining a major powers faction

The deliberate decision to permit ahistorical guarantees in historical games was a poor, poor choice on PDX's part. Want to rebuild the Austro-Hungarian Empire? Anglo-French say no. Want a Middle East superpower? Anglo-French say no. Want a Balkan Coalition? SURE! Just be prepared for the Anglo-French to guarantee the ♥♥♥♥ out of all the states around you.
