Squad
A question about solo play
Can you join the server and work towards objective akin to "standart" games without voice chat or you're required to be on comms?

Squad honestly kind of relies on players communicating with each other. It's not designed for individual players to be fully self-sufficient, like the vast majority of other games that empower the individual to be a one-man army. In Squad, ape together strong, which requires at least some communication. You don't need to constantly be reciting Shakespearean soliloquies or anything crazy like that (and for the Command chat yappers out there, please talk less so I can hear my own squad -- thank you), but a general willingness to pipe up and make helpful call-outs or respond to questions during the chaos of battle really greases the gears of war and improves the experience for everyone playing.

The good news? Unless you're squad leading, then you don't actually need to talk much at all. Generally, just calling out enemies you see (e.g. "Enemy soldier spotted, bearing 027, close/far/100m/whatever") so your squad or nearby teammates can annihilate them is all you need. Maybe you ask for a medic, or some ammo, when you need it. Ask for a ride, ask someone to repeat something they just said if you missed it and it was really important, etc.

The only reason I'm pointing all this out is because it sounds like you intend from the start to not use your mic at all, which would be a shame. Squad is the only multiplayer game I play where I'm not just perma-muted in-game, because it's not like many other games in this regard -- communication is part of the core design principle and ethos of Squad, and without it the game doesn't really function.

If none of that interests you, then get Squad anyway, and have fun anyway. Despite my objectively correct opinion about Squad (/s), nobody reasonable is gonna bust your balls over being quiet, unless you're trolling (just don't troll; use common sense). I think if you enjoy the game, you will naturally want to participate (and therefore communicate). You might get kicked from some squads for not talking, but in my experience the vast majority of squad leaders do not care so long as you stick close to your squad and pay attention.

Depends on the squad you join, there are some no mic, kick them kind of squads people, but as long as you can follow the squad lead and not just wonder about you can play without vc and comms as I do.
Not sure about other regions but i think rules are similar. You can play without using mics but you are going to be required to join a squad and "follow" their orders (trust me is best to just follow them if not you just going to be stuck running around doing nothing or dying alot) you don't have to talk but you know this kind of games you got to role play abit its funner to join in the fun than fight against it

This game pretty much requires voice chat. I'd say if you wish to play solo, there are better games than this for you. There might be the rare occasion where people solo light armor, humvees with remote systems and such, but communication is essential to the game, with a squad and between squads.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thank you all for your answers
Shouldn't be deterred because of no mic, I've seen plenty use type team chat.
Most servers require Squad Leaders to have mic.
Most servers will kick players if not on a Squad after a short amount of time.

Certain game modes do not require SQUADS but those are called SEEDING and they are just waiting for the server to fill up to start the main battle game.

There are certain roles where you can play in a squad but allow for a lot of room to play solo like
- Logi Driver = Drive from the Main Supplies to the forward HABs. Its just like Euro Truck SIm but with tanks shooting at you.
- Engineer - Fastest Shovel in the West. You can build the essential emplacements early on but then seek out radios or lay down Land MInes.

Commander- You can ignore all the SLs and sit in a hab flying a drone whole game. :P

Happy Hunting
