Squad
Worth it for the Star Wars mod?
I enjoy fps in general, however, Squad only caught my attention after I saw the Star Wars mod. Recently I became really into that universe, so, the question is, for those who played it, it is worth it?

100% feels like a whole new game.

How about the servers? Do we have plenty of options? It's easy to find a game?
I'm watching a youtuber called Bullwon and it seems really interesting how the game plays. And the interaction between the players are fun sometimes.

There are always a few full servers.

Thanks! Last question, how much a mic is needed? I have one, but most of the time I just wanna chill and play without worrying about interacting. I saw some people arguing, saying that not communicating will lead to a poor experience (being kicked of squads, etc). This apply to this mod as well?

Communication is important in this mod as much as vanilla squad.

Perhaps spend your money elsewhere in games like battlefront 2.
battlefront II has more people playing, why not just play the real thing
Well worth it. I don't use a microphone I use text chat and havent had any problems

I have mixed feelings about the mod. It is really fun and cool when you first play it, but tbh the novelty wears off after a bit (30-50 hrs for me) and then you realize it's just stripped-down, re-skinned squad. While there are a few servers hosting it, neither of them are very good: it's GC and Ace only and GC has really absentee mods with really strict rules, so it's either anarchy or harsh crackdown, and Ace just sucks, woke mofos.

I definitely like global escalation more overall, but if you haven't tried it GC is definitely worth a try and is fun for a while but it's kinda mid. More and better servers would help a lot but it gets repetitive anyways
It's even more fun when zombie mod event is held by some server

Squad honestly kind of relies on players communicating with each other. It's not designed for individual players to be fully self-sufficient, like the vast majority of other games that empower the individual to be a one-man army. In Squad, ape together strong, which requires at least some communication. You don't need to constantly be reciting Shakespearean soliloquies or anything crazy like that (and for the Command chat yappers out there, please talk less so I can hear my own squad -- thank you), but a general willingness to pipe up and make helpful call-outs or respond to questions during the chaos of battle really greases the gears of war and improves the experience for everyone playing.

The good news? Unless you're squad leading, then you don't actually need to talk much at all. Generally, just calling out enemies you see (e.g. "Enemy soldier droid spotted, bearing 027, close/far/100m/whatever") so your squad or nearby teammates can annihilate them is all you need. Maybe you ask for a medic, or some ammo, when you need it. Ask for a ride, ask someone to repeat something they just said if you missed it and it was really important, etc.

The only reason I'm pointing all this out is because it sounds like you intend from the start to not use your mic at all, which would be a shame. Squad is the only multiplayer game I play where I'm not just perma-muted in-game, because it's not like many other games in this regard -- communication is part of the core design principle and ethos of Squad, and without it the game doesn't really function.

If none of that interests you, then get Squad anyway, and have fun anyway. Despite my objectively correct opinion about Squad (/s), nobody reasonable is gonna bust your balls over being quiet, unless you're trolling (just don't troll; use common sense). I think if you enjoy the game, you will naturally want to participate (and therefore communicate). You might get kicked from some squads for not talking, but in my experience the vast majority of squad leaders do not care so long as you stick close to your squad and pay attention.

Thanks for ignoring the helpful advice because it didn't match up with what you wanted.

I believe that is a common thing after so many hours of playing. Still, seems worth it. Unfortunately, my benchmark wasn't good enough. I tried and I decided to upgrade my PC before continue playing.

You point kinda of summarizes what I had in mind when I bought it yesterday. However, I decided to go with it and interact anyway, just because the game seems to have something unique in it. I even watched a couple of videos before playing and I was really hyped to play it. Unfortunately, my PC couldn't handle it in a constant 60fps, it seems the mod itself demands more of the computer than I thought, compared to the base game, which sucks. Reading you talk about the game just makes me wanna play it even more.

I'm sorry, I actually bought and ended up playing because of the communication, as you mentioned. I'm just used to be lazy when it comes to interacting, however, the premise made me want to try it, since it seems to be something new.
However, as a mentioned, I saw some benchmark of Squad (base game) and thought my PC could handle it, which wasn't the case, since the mod seems to be more demanding.
