Resource Probe Missions.

There seem to have been some changes to these missions, and now, some times they work, and other times, they do not.

Yesterday, I was in one Sector, and for fun, Dropped a Resource Probe, Just to See What Was There... (I did not have any active missions) When I released the probe, Three Missions Popped Up as Completed, Two Mineral, and one Gas.

Today, I had three missions left to do for probes, two mineral, and one gas. I had a real Good Mineral/Gas Zone, and dropped a probe. Nothing...

I picked one Mineral Miner, in Argon Prime, and went to it. Jumped into the next system, South, and dropped a probe. Success!!

It did not clear the mission for the miner in Antigone Memorial, so I flew down to that ship. There is a pretty good area for Mining, Both gas, and Mineral in that area, so I flew over into the Eastern area, and dropped a Probe. Nothing. I then Flew to the Western Field, and dropped another Probe. It has these numbers: Hydrogen - 2.1; Ice - 18; Nividium - 0.0031; Ore and Silicon, Both - 73.

This did not clear any missions. As the changes in the programming have removed the Numbers being Looked For, in a Specific Mission, I am at a Loss to find a good place to drop this probe....??

With the Antigone Mineral Mission Active, I have Dropped Probes in Three Locations...
Latest one Numbers: Hydrogen - 1.4; Ice - 5.8; Nividium - 0.023; Ore - 47; and Silicon - 45...

Did you drop the probes with a miner? I think that is a requirement and probes that had been deployed before starting the mission don't count either. At least that is what i remember when i did such a mission. Had to fiddle with it for some time too.

Using a Miner is only necessary when you are doing the Mission for Learning Geology...
Find X Mineral, Drop Probe, Gather Y amount, Return Student to base.

Many of these have been working better recently.

I put out a Probe this am, and it Cleared 5 Mineral/Gas Missions, even though I did not have any of those Active...

If you are referring to miner upkeep missions (upkeep tab in mission manager) they have a set sector where you need to drop resource probes into to find at least a certain amount of resource (current amount, not total max amount).

For example I got a miner who has an upkeep mission to put a resource probe in the Oort Cloud sector to find at least 0.5 km^3 of ore. I drop a resource probe that report the area around it has 0.49/1.0 km^3 of ore. That will not complete the mission since the current amount (0.49 km^3) is less than the required amount of 0.5 km^3. But what is that /1.0 km^3? That is the total amount of ore that that region around the probe can regenerate to. If you wait the amount of ore can go up if given there isn't many other miners mining in the area for ore. Not sure if it will complete the upkeep mission if it regenerates, but I just spam probes all over since they have pretty short ranges and eventually there will be a pocket that has enough to complete the upkeep mission.

In Beta, that is no longer true. If I drop a Probe anywhere, it clears what ever missions I have in Que.

Yeah, the beta probes are bonkers. If you select one visually (not via the map), it will tell you huge amounts for the resources. I've seen plenty over 30/km^3. I reported it, but I didn't know about the effect on missions.

I don't know about Bonkers, but it does meet the needs of the Stations...
