Silicon wafer woes
Okay so I've got this station that makes Silicon Wafers and advanced electronics. It buys the materials needed for advanced electronics production from NPC stations (Which I don't mind for now, it's just to grease the wheels for the Teladi shipyards.), the silicon and energy cells are produced by the station and its ample miners.

I've got a few M traders assigned to trade for the station, and a freighter. My issue is, my station keeps sending its ships to buy tiny amounts of quantum tubes and microchips, meanwhile, the silicon wafers I want it to actively sell are just filling up their storage and not being sold except to NPCs who come buy them and occasionally the station's own traders.

I've figured out at least that the tiny amounts of quantum tubes and microchips the station is buying is just to constantly top off the small 70-150 storage space assigned for those resources.

Now here's my question. How do I get my station to stop sending my ships after these tiny amount of X, and prioritize selling the ample amount of Y and actually making me money?

I know there's plenty of demand for wafers, and I've got plenty of supply, it's proving to be a throughput problem.

Ideas I've considered include: Would adding some S courier ships occupy the small trades and let the bigger ships take the bulkier stuff? Or is there some way I can hard wire the freighter to buy wafers from just my station and sell to the highest price? Would manually allocating more storage space to the quantum tubes and microchips cause them to be bought less frequently and in larger amounts? Should I just separate these two productions into different stations?

I really wish I could just tell a specific ship to only sell for a station, and another ship to only buy for it.

The station will always prioritise having enough resources to continue production for some time (I think at least one hour, probably more). At those low storage levels it will constantly prioritise topping up the resources before trying to sell anything.
You'd think adding more traders may sidestep the problem by having enough spare traders to go out and do stuff while the others have resource supply orders to fill up to max lined up. Although with how the managers adjust the tradelists it may not work. The manager will continue to wait until the resources are actually stocked sufficiently before sending out ships to sell. And with such small storage levels it may not be possible to actually satisfy the manager.

The fix is to increase storage so it can hold enough resources to not need to restock literally every cycle.
