No Numpad - cant play Flight School Tutorial

For the flight school tutorial you have to look around and then adjust the zoom with Numpad + and Numpad -. If you don't have a numpad you seem to be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ because the keybinds can be changed but the new bindings don't work.

Can you at least skip steps in the tutorial?

The default control profile also allows you to look around with Shift+Middle_Mouse_Button (MMB). Just hold down a Shift Key while also holding down the Middle Mouse Button and then move the mouse to look around.

If your mouse doesn't have a MMB then you might be out of luck.

Same here, that is so stupid! How can I proceed with the most basic tutorial, when I do not have a num pad (notebook). The shift/middlemouse works, but not the NUM+ and NUM- wtf... the only thing you can do is to reassign the keys to others, but hey, why not :D

doh, just posted a new topic about this - i didnt notice one.
FYI even rebinding zoom in and zoom out won't move the tutorial forward :(
note you can rebind camera left and right and it did it, but oddly zoom in and zoom out just seem to do nothing when rebound. I was also sad to see there wasn't a timeout for this one!

Are you rebinding the controls while in the middle of the tutorial? Try instead from the main menu before starting the tutorial.

From the main menu I rebound zoom in/out to the - & = keys. Actually, I guess I just added the - & = keys and kept the default Num+/- keys bound in the config.

Then when I ran the tutorial the text prompt that popped up actually showed the Numpad + & - keys but also my newly bound - & = keys and they worked as expected and progressed me past that step of the tutorial.

I found out that the tutorial continues (with reassign keys) when you do that zooming in the correct view (press F2 twice). I had my next nightmare when I wanted to redock to my ship in my space suite... After endless tries I noticed that I have to ask for docking permission to open the door of my own ship! Maybe that helps... :) the tutorials still suck :)

That's a really good point. F2 once puts you in a static view following your ship, but F2 a second time is the view in which you can rotate and zoom. I'd played before so I knew that, but if one's not paying close attention, I expect that's a detail easily missed in the tutorial by new players.

This was the problem for me. You need to be in F2 view Mode. The new Key Bindings will work btw in F2 mode. Thanks for the Help :).
