Controls randomly stop working

When transitioning between travel mode and normal mode, and opening and closing the ship, sometimes the spacebar stops responding, or the mouse wheel does. Sometimes pressing escape into the menu and coming back fixes it and other times you need to get up from the seat and sit back down. Sometimes switching modes fixes it. It's very inconsistent.

I've lost ships and had to reload a number of times because of this. Anyone knows a fix?

Yes, this happens a lot to me as well. I hope a dev reads this one. It should be in the common problems area. The controls do get "unbinded", and disconnect on occasion. Exactly as you stated. There is no fix. However, I have found that saving, and not autosaving works sometimes to free it up. It's annoying, and is stopping me from playing long runs. I believe going into the map screen and out sometimes fixes it. I think maybe using escape out of the map screen might be messing with it. Maybe use delete instead. I am tryng many things. Hopefully we will get a patch soon on this. Game is great. I'm holding my review until it's fixed a bit. *(as are many of people I know).

weapon key
mouse input for weapons and selecting stuff has stopped working. i bought a new ship no captain on board keys are default and still cant select stuff and my weapons want fire

This isn't the problem. The controls stop working entirely.

I.e., it comes and goes on its own. I have tried shift / space. It sometimes works, but not all the time.

Mine do too nothing responds unless I do shift + space and then back again or press escape and back.
Sorry it doesn't fix your problem

Hey i know its old thread but, it still happens, I can loose controls after a longer session. Like, I can't open map with a dedicated button, I can't choose fast travel with "shift+1", i am sure there were more. I only managed to solve it by returning to menu and load game again. I know I am new to this game, but is this a common thing?

There are a couple of interface bugs especially if you play for long periods, you found the solution by reloading, the common one for me is where i cant interact with anything so i just press quick save the escape and reload and its all fixed
