Game start with a black screen

My game start with a black screen before and after installing the latest driver.

I can hear sound still also see the in-game mouse cursor.

I've done all that, vulkan gives me no error in the promt, also my files are not compressed.

The steam overlay is turned off.

I still get a black screen with sound.

What are your system specs, over 3gb of Vram in your graphic card? Also try verifying files for the game and maybe try installing the latest driver again.

i7-3770k, 16gb ram, 690 GTX with vulkan support.

Trust me i know what system requirements do, they have been telling me i need to upgrade for ages, never had a problem with a game that required a 780 or higher.

I found the problem, it was caused by using msi afterburner's overlay in-game, after i removed that the game started showing up.

Never seen a game act like that with msi before, i do know that it can mess up with the game's performance sometimes but never caused a black screen before this.

I have the same issue with a Ryzen 2700x @ 4Ghz, 16GB 3200 DDR4 and a Nvidia 970. All the latest drivers active 417.1 WHQL, Vulkan Info does not give out errors. Blackscreen on start when you click it turns to a whitescreen and then sais X4 Foundations.exe stopped working. No MSI Afterburner here.

OMG THANK YOU! With one of the nVidia driver updates, the FPS display was causing an issue. I had disabled all the other overlays, except that, but when I disabled the FPS, suddenly the game display worked. I didn't suspect this because before the update, the nVidia FPS display worked fine. So happy to be able to play again!
